Smalling looked drained from midweek, I don't think he would have taken a fresher Smalling for pace. His end product is very good though, gets the ball into the box which is all you can ask.

Everytime I watch Wolves he's their best player.

I can't imagine he'll struggle to find a Premier League club next season.

How Jarvis is compared to Valencia is beyond me. Some have pointed out Jarvis is more clever but Valencia has the better physique, which is far from the truth. Valencia is an incredibly smart player.

I thought he'd been shit this season? He has whenever I've watched him.

He's a decent player, but not too much more than that in all honesty. He'll move onto bigger and better than Wolves, but I think he'll be a mid-table player. Wouldn't cut it at a big club.

Im sure most must have said that about Valencia before we bought him.

Jarvis is one of the players that could strive on a bigger stage. Then again, he could be the new downing. I still think hes smarter though and could do with a better team and better strikers to provide for.

I'm not so sure. I think that many people held Valencia in a higher regard when he was at Wigan than people do with Jarvis now.

Also, just because one player surprised people by excelling at a bigger club, doesn't mean that all players will: see Downing.

I know, I made that same point, in the post you quote ¬¬

But its funny, I rememebr some people in this place actually being unhappy we signed Valencia. As I said, I think Jarvis is better than Downing and could excel with better strikers and a better team around him.

If/when Wolves go down, Ill be very surprised if he goes down with them.

Don't think he's anywhere near the player Valencia is.

Yeah, I certainly don't think he'll keep playing for them if they do get relegated. Even if they stay up, I think he'll move onto bigger and better things.

I can see him eventually playing for a Everton type mid-table to Europa League team. He'd suit that level. At best, he could possibly go to Liverpool. That might be a step too high though. Depends on whether Dalglish gives up on Downing or not.

He was brilliant at Old Trafford a couple of months ago. He tore Smalling (I think) a new one and put in the most crosses I've seen a winger make against us at home. The thing is, they were all great crosses and should have led to more goals. I think they scored off one. Wasn't quite as good at the weekend, but I'd comfortably take him over Downing. I think Liverpool is as high as he could go as I don't think the other top teams will be interested in a player like him as they mainly play with 1 striker.

Is it me, or does he look heavy to you guys as well.
I think he is a good player and would have a good career in PL.
If he had played as a fullback, rather than as a winger, he would have had a better career.

Will be a good buy for any midtable club, hopefully Everton.

But somehow will find himself under scrutiny because he might be bought by Liverpool.

I think Liverpool will get Hoilett instead, but he's probably on their radar as a backup plan of sorts. Can't do worse there than Downing.

Same. There's probably been a few games where he's been the least shit in the Wolves side, though. Fletcher looks about the same level as Jarvis to me and that's a decent midtable side, Doyle and Bassong possibly too. O'Hara and Hennessey are potentially slightly better than that.

Problem with Wolves was Jarvis hit form too late, Frimpong got injured just when they thought they are about to have O'hara, Frimpong, Henry together on pitch.
Defence is fecking shite to begin with.

Disagree Brwned, think Hennessey is poor and Jamie O'Hara is too slow to be at a much better team, and I don't think he's good enough on the ball (although he is good) to make up for his physical shortcomings.

Bassong was one of the few brightspots in our relegation season. We bought him for 500k and then got like £8 million for him.

I think he's looked disasterous for Wolves though. Their pool of CBs are terrible.

I thought I'd already commented in this thread but for my money Jarvis is a midtable player. He isn't good enough for one of the top 4 and would be a squad player for a few teams below that.

Think Sylar meant on here tbh Cheesy. Lookin at your join date you may have been spared that particular round of bullshit. But go back to the Young thread and you will find similar elitist bullshit said about him.

It's nearly always the same on here. Someone from the Spanish league gets spunked over, while someone from our own league is vastly overrated, many times despite playing consistently well in the most physically taxing league of them all! Strange but true im afraid.

Some players make the step up, some don't.

These players that did make the step up showed they were capable at international level though, something Jarvis hasn't really gotten close to.

Doesn't sound like our kind of signing whatsoever.

Not sure where he'd fit in either.

Hoillet looks a far more talented player. Jarvis looks mid table for me. Hoilett has the natural ability to do better IMO.

I've always disliked him, not really sure why, just one of those things i guess.

He's a bit too hit and miss for my liking, as someone pointed out earlier he seems to have been shit/gone missing in many a game this season..you could point out that's because Wolves have been shit but they were battling against relegation last season too and they have 'decent' attacking players in Fletcher and Doyle. The defence plays like League 1 level though.

I guess I think he's better than most of you do then. I think he'd excel in a europa league level team and he has time to improve beyond that.

Amazing how a relelgated club could get £20-£30 million for two of their players.

When you look at the players Swansea have been able to bring in for relatively little, it reflects badly on someone like Allardyce to push so hard to only bring in Matt Jarvis.
