To be fair, if Bryan Robson or Gary Pallister went on to praise Liverpool tomorrow, united fans would probably get annoyed too

And that would be funny to them. Just how the world works. Happy for them to have a laugh at our expense and that had been quite frequent during the moyes and lvg era.

    Wow.

Most footballers at least pretend to have an affinity for their current club, or the one they were most closely associated with during their career.

Owen could have just said he understands how hard it must have been for Liverpool fans to see him in a United shirt but his career was winding down and he had to make a decision to either do what was best for his career at the time or refuse for sentimental reasons. I think most Liverpool fans wouldn't object to that statement if he said it was purely a career move, it was extremely hard to do it and he'll always be a Scouser.

But instead, he says this . Ill advised because football fans especially Liverpool ones love their players even more if said player has a "bond" with the club.

I absolutely love how brazen he is with his statements. No shame whatsoever

I'm sure he referred to United as "we" during the Europa final.

Granted Benzema would have been a far superior signing, I seriously enjoy watching that match winning goal against Citeh every now and then.

Isn't it the case that most Liverpool fans never really cared for him, anyway? 'England's Michael Owen' or some shit? I realise that he's an ambassador for them but it wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't overly fond of the club, hence not being careful with what he says publicly.

That, or he's just a dunce, either, or.

Not sure he is the brightest. If I was a Liverpool ambassador, the last thing I would be doing is talking up Utd.

He just loves himself so much, so it is no surprise he is oblivious to the fact that what he is saying will rile up the millions of fans of the club he is meant to represent.

Whenever I see his face I can’t help but think of that video of him celebrating goal after goal against that child in goal. He’s a knobhead.

Does Owen have a PR team?

Surely they would tell him that making these type of statements are a bad idea. He should hire Ozil's team, they do a fantastic job of protecting his reputation among Arsenal fans while he winds down his contract.

    Didn't watch the video but..

What's wrong with that? I doubt he had a more appealing offer in terms of silverware.

Michael Owen is the only person alive who has perfected being completely inoffensive yet also genuinely insulting at the same time.

I mean somehow even I'm slightly annoyed by that comment. I'm not even sure why

Does he mean Inspirational instead of Aspirational? That isn't an adjective I've heard used often.

First Class? Is he offering an airline service as well?

fecking love seeing him wind up the Liverpool fans.

He’s a Red Devil in my eyes. That goal against City cemented it. These comments just further it.
