Weird, but hardly cause to have him birched, bummed and beaten to within an inch of his life FFS.

Not sure what's wrong with this.

It's fantastic for the EPL that we're in the ascendancy in Europe. Yes, I'll absolutely hate it if Liverpool, City or Spurs win the Champions' League, but I'm looking forward to some epic battles both in the EPL and Europe to establish the 'Top Dog' in the English game over the next few years. It's like we've rolled football back a decade.

That's the dream team there. The link between generations, history together, and recent (on the whole..) successes mean hopefully we have a potent management team (along with Carrick & McKenna).

I'd be gutted if Phelan left at any point again - United is his home!

I honestly couldn't give a toss about it being fantastic for the EPL
I support Manchester United not the EPL and being that way i Automatically want Liverpool and City to lose.

    Well said.

Given a choice I'd want any of the other top six to lose in Europe
    - in any competition. I wanted Arsenal to lose last night and Chelsea.

I think I'd rather have the EPL dominance than not. Makes the league way more attractive to foreign players and tones down a bit of the La Liga, Ligue 1 hype. Also translates to a richer league overall (because more fans, more TV money, more CL money coming directly to English teams) and hopefully clubs spend that money well and the CL success for any english team increases the quality of the whole league indirectly. Hopefully this also means more of an investment in the academies (better coaches, facilities) and is possibly good for English football as a whole.

Of course I wouldn't want our direct rivals to actually win it (City would be insufferable, I dread even thinking about what would happen if Pool win, Arsenal / Chelsea / Spurs I'd be okay if they won), but I miss the days of having 3-4 english clubs in the quarters consistently.

On the the last two occasions there were four English teams in the quarter finals (07/08 and 08/09), we've ended up in the final twice so why would you lobby against that? Plus the further the rest of the top six go in Europe, the more congested their fixture schedules are going to be or would you prefer the likes of Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal get a couple of free weeks while we slug it out in the CL? There's also the matter of our collective co-efficient rating but I guess that doesn't matter either. I mean no one's asking anyone to actively support our opponents but who really gives a feck how far they get beyond a final? Don't get me wrong, it's fun watching them lose in the earlier rounds but I'm not going to get worked up if they progress.

I just don't get this at all. I don't actively support them and it's always worth a bit of a wind up when they crash out - but we have 4 clubs, 3 of which are proper, traditional clubs, in the quarters of the Champions' League. For all the oil money in the world, this year's quarters show that you can succeed without spending the GDP of a small country to do it.

I think it should be celebrated.

I doubt whoever's managing his social media falls into either of those categories.
