No, it isn't. Mamić is a criminal, no doubt, but he isn't some kind of movie mafia boss who orders hits on people. He steals and embezzle money from Dinamo and Croatian National Federation. Personally, I think he is a fecking coward and when his friends in government decide that enough is enough he will be a little bitch in prison.

It's a case of two people stealing money together, then they get caught, then one gets scared and tells everything to the police but because he is good at playing football he gets a witness status instead of prison time, and then when he realizes that if he changes his mind again nothing will happen to him and he can save his partner in crime and keep the money, he lies in court.

Modrić is a little criminal piece of shit that deserve a bitch slap every day.

Looks like legal thriller turned into parody, though it could still end up ugly for some of the characters, doesn't it?

Mamić brothers and few others will definitely be convicted, the question is will it be on all the counts of the indictment or just some.

On tax counts Jesus Christ personally can't save them, but I don't think that that will be enough for jail time considering retarded Croatian law.

Yeah, I'm with my fellows Croats on Modrić being a cnut, not a victim here. People need to realise that the whole Mamić family is running Dinamo, iirc one of Zdravko's brother's was a coach of Dinamo and Zdravko's son was a football agent working tightly with Dinamo and its players. Given that Dinamo is one of those clubs that sends most Croatian/players playing for Zagreb abroad, it is/was the case of players simply cooperating with the Mamićs, paying them and getting transferred out of Croatia to some bigger leagues on good terms with a lot of money staying in Mamić pocket.

Zagreb as a whole (as in, the city, courts, all that shit) seems to be involved in Mamić dirty business, hence lack of him being convicted. Funnily enough, Croatian feds who are on the case did their utmost to move the case away from Zagreb and the whole case now happens in Osijek if I'm not mistaken, far away from Mamić tentacles. Lovren was recently seen at some randez vous with one of the Mamić brothers too, they don't really hide it.

Modrić could've been a hero to Croatia, he'll be perceived as a scum by the vast majority it seems.

And in the latest news, state attorney has opened an investigation against Luka Modrić on the grounds of giving false testimony which is a felony.

Why do Ronaldo, Messi and others have tax issues? The richer they get, the more greedy they get.

So why hate on Modric for not going against this powerful nut job when he doesn't even have to? It seems like he's going down without Modric directly testifying against him (which he had done before).

Mamic is the type of person you get acquinted with because of your surroundings (neighbourhood/school/work) out of necessity but you want to get away from as soon as possible and not be associated with anymore. He had a stranglehold on players and they have to play along for a bit or they don't get to play at all.

Seems like this sort of case shouldn't come down to two players being an important part. Where's the FA in all of this?

    C'mon, are you kidding me?

Modrić has to tell the truth in court. That applies even in fecking Somalia. The only reason he lied in court is to keep the money he stole. He's a criminal and he's not in danger from this powerful nut job. He is his partner.

Yeah I really don't know why to hate a guy who stole the money from the club he was playing for and then drew back his original statement claiming that he doesn't remember when he signed all those contracts and annexes.

    Poor Luka. Poor, poor Luka.

He didn't need to get acquinted with him cause of surroundings. He had a choice then, he chose to get in business with him and now he's lying about it.

Where's FA? Mamic practically controls the FA and our dear FA president, Davor Suker. He was my favorite player when I was a kid, now he's scum. As a person he was always problematic, but at least he scored goals for fun, but now his character is really shown. He's Mamic's puppet who travels around giving his shirts away..

Great posts by @Thomas A.Anderson and @Kostur. Kostur, you really know this story deep. :)

He does have to. He's in a court of law, ffs.

Hopefully, they are keeping they nose out of the business of the courts.

    Trumpian logic at work here.

Wouldn't blame Modric so much if he didn't change the testimony which he gave before, in front of the investigation. That testimony is now not relevant (in terms of conviction) because of the new one that Modric gave. There is evidence against Mamic even without Modric and Lovren but for the main charges wich are illegal gain of property, conflict of interest and so on both Modric and Lovren are the key witnesses and in the end, it looked like the defence was the one that called Modric. On the tax fraud, nobody can save Mamic as someone already mentioned, but that probably won't be enough to put him in jail.

As for Modric, I do have some sympathy for him but not much. He did help Mamic to gain illegal profit, he did give false testimony and imo should be even found guilty because of that. On the other hand, Mamic helped him in his early years as he was the one who gave him a platform to produce. He gave him money, apartment and a chance to play for Dinamo, even national team.
On the other hand, if Modric didn't want to sign documents that Mamic will be his agent, he wouldn't' be given any of that, with all his talent. He even would not be able to play for Dinamo. That's what happened to other players who refused to sign for Mamic, and that's the biggest problem with all this in terms of football. It is all corrupt, wrong, illegal and disgusting when you look at it and that's why so many people hate Mamic.
As for FA, if you mean Croatian Football Association (or Federation), Ban already said, Mamic owns them.

All in all, one lovely story.
