Not even really talking about match quality to be honest. Just a white knuckle ride for the full match. For me, its probably Arsenal vs United in the semi final replay in 1999. I dont know if I'll ever see a game like it where the momentum swung as much due to so many incidents.

Second leg vs Barca in 2008 was a intense as feck as well. 1-0 with the opposition chasing an away goal was barely a lead, so that was really hard to watch. Probably more wound up watching that than the final.

This plus the barca game in the semi final.

Still remember my reaction to the slip.

Chelsea vs Barcelona in 2005. Maybe my memories are clouded but that was the most mental game ever. Could've ended something like 6-6. If I remember correctly Chelsea took an incredible quick 3-0 lead which would've seen them through but a Ronaldinho brace (with that incredible second goal) turned everything around before Chelsea scored again and I think that was still before half time. Second half had plenty of chances but no one managed to score anymore but the intensity was incredible, that game really had everything.

    edit: found a video:

okay, the 4-2 happened after HT but jesus, what an incredible amount of chances both sides had

Liverpool vs Chelsea. The one where he slipped. That was scary watching that knowing if Liverpool equalised they would go on to win the league.

Moscow. The penalty shoot out, my word. Terry slipping, what a glorious ending.

    Couple of oldies from me:

Leeds away in league cup semi of 1991.
    Sheffield Wednesday 1993.
The semi-final second leg against Barca in 08 was horrible as well.

Madrid v Bayern during the Moyes era.
I thought we would never see that standard again at OT for a very long time.
    Even the pens were ridiculous

Second leg against Barcelona in 08 was more terrifying then Moscow. We got absolutely pummeled with constant attacks which felt like at any second they were going to score for about 20 minutes solid.

You just knew when that final whistle went that it was only going to go our way in the final

Tottenham at home when we needed to win the title. A very anxious first half hour and an equally excruciating last half hour holding on for victory.

Thanks for the vid. That was a truly brilliant game. I loved it. Only one thing pissed me off, that sneaky cnut Carvalho impeding Valdes for the 4-2.

This. It was football torture and I couldn't watch the penalty shootout. Think I was terrified at that point.

I was gonna say Nou Camp 99 but it was a shite game and I only remember it for the result really (that and it was my 21st birthday so I was shit faced)

Definitely Moscow, I thought we were going to lose for most of the game and that made it far more intense. Bloody good Chelsea team as well that one.

That PSV - Milan game in the CL where Park Ji Sung and Lee Yung Pyo tore Milan to shreds for Ambrosini to score the away goal at the end which restored Milan's lead in the tie. Sumptuous match. Balls to the wall stuff from PSV and Milan giving it everything so as to keep the advantage.

One the most intense I have seen in terms of speed of play has to be Italy vs Japan in the confederation cup.

I think it ended 4-3 in the end but it was 100mph from start to finish. It really was a fantastic game of football.

    Probably this:

6 goals, dramatic penalty shoot-out, horrifying injury and the abundance of world class players

Leeds vs Arsenal was good. A game that Leeds had to secure survival and make United the champions.

    United 4 - 3 City

    (the Owen game)
Had everything, mental game of football. I watched in a restaurant in Beijing, I don't think they liked me by the end.

Clasicos in Pep-Jose time. Especially during that spell when they played each other four times in about two weeks.

For us, the 4-3 against City and the 0-0 then following 2-0 at OT against Arsenal back in 04 and 05

Final game of the season vs Spurs in '99. Felt like we played for about 3 days after Cole's goal at the start of the second half.

THIS. Great shout. I was 8 at the time, but still remember every second of it. Watched it with my father at a big gathering. I cried the whole drive home. I've never wished more pain and suffering on someone as I did that night on Harald Schumacher!

West Germany was so hated by most during that World Cup after the farce that was them and Austria game. This took their villainy to a new level!
