Martial, hands down. Was watching with my bro who "supports" Liverpool and I had told him this guy coming on was the shot up the arm we needed in terms of being direct and taking on players much like Robben was the difference for LvGs Netherlands.

And then he goes and does that

Macheda came out of nowhere and went straight back there, memorable moment but not a debut/beginning of something.

Rooney we all knew was brilliant.

Rooney stands out big time for me. It was quite incredible to watch... even our Mr Champions League at the time, RVN took a supporting role.

Difficult question for me, however, I do remember clearly a young lad making his debut who certainly was in the top 3 to grace Old Trafford, " The Belfast Boy "

On his Bundesliga debut 20 year old Hamit Altintop scored 2 great long range goals to lift Schalke to a 2-0 victory against fierce local rivals Dortmund on the first matchday of the season 03/04.

The first time I was actually aware of United bying a player, I think was Bryan Robson. I couldn’t see his debut as I grew up in Norway, but I remember the first match I saw him play was England vs France in the following World cup. I was in ecstasy when he scored after about thirty seconds, and even better when he bagged a brace to make Platini, Giresse and Tigana look like stooges.

Do you remember how it was?

Gotta say, as far as debuts goes it's hard to top a wonder-strike against your local rivals.

The one where Sounness subbed in Ali Dia was pretty good.

Loads of memorable ones for United fans. Obviously the Macheda moment. Great goal and what a moment to score in. A pivotal point in the season. Rooney's Hat Trick in the Champions League was some way to introduce himself. We had been waiting for ages for him to play because of injury. Martial off the bench to get a winner against Liverpool? What a moment that was! And what a goal too. Rashford hit the ground running, though not the most glamorous of opposition. The more impressive part was thr form he kept up afterwards.

Ronaldo's impact on debut was huge, but nothing tops Rooney's debut for me. The anticipation was fully justified.

Has to be Rooney. It was stupidly good. I mean, just, on a different level altogether.

    Refresh me on that one?

That’s a Martial moment. Is it Szcezny flapping about? Magnificent strike!

Dia conned his way into the Leeds team, allegedly being recommended by George Weah. Weah denied it afterwards and the guy was a semi pro playing in Thailand. He managed to play 40ish minutes in the premier league under Souness.

Only a cameo against weak opposition, but Welbeck scored an absolute blooper on his debut

That was a beauty of a debut goal, Stoke, wasn’t it? 25 yards in to the corner. The next game he played, he made an ice cool finish against Spurs, and I went on for a long while thinking Welbeck - on top of his good ball control, short passing, speed and strength - was clinical finisher who packed a dynamite shot.

Ah, that party ... remembered the story, had forgotten the name. Legendary and very Sounessy.
