“Marcus’ story is quite interesting because he started playing with Mr Van Gaal, when the team was really in trouble, to have options,” said Mourinho.

“Then ‘The monster that kills the little kids’ arrived, but he plays every game since then. He plays every game, starting or coming from the bench, as a striker, as a left winger, as a right winger. Then he goes to the national team.

“The kid is having a hell of an experience at every level, so an amazing future waits for him and being surrounded by these players can only help him. But the whole story of Marcus — will he get minutes and matches? — that story is really old, because he’s a very important player for us.”

With Sanchez joining Rashford, Romelu Lukaku, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard, Mourinho said United now boast one of the most formidable attacks in the game.

“In attack, it’s difficult for us to improve,” he said. “Where are we going to get a better combination of players than we have? We cannot buy Lionel Messi, we cannot buy Cristiano Ronaldo – these are the best players of the last decade.

“Where can we get better players than Mata, Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Alexis, Lukaku? In attack, we have an amazing group of players.”

Mourinho said Sanchez, who will make his Premier League debut for United on Wednesday away to old foes Tottenham, will not be fazed by the abuse he will receive as a former Arsenal player.

“He doesn’t care,” said the United boss.

Galvanising that attack to fight for every point until the final whistle of the final game.

Rashford is not yet good enough. Seeing the best up close will only benefit him if he chooses to learn from it.

I don’t think it will effect him too much. I don’t think Mourinho will have them competing for the same minutes.

Looks like the summer will be focused on midfield and maybe defence?
If Shaw does kick on and TFM becomes our RB replacement then it becomes difficult to see where he wants to spend.
    Replace Herrera?

Hopefully this is Jose leading the press on a merry dance if he really thinks our attack cannot be improved

Bolstering the midfield so we can control games against the best is the key to stepping up to the next level. If we can control the game and feed those attackers regularly without being overrun not many teams will stop us.

He can demolish Keown and Redknapp with ease.

Who would you replace in that attack based on current form? You could possibly add one but that’d be it. We are healthy in the attacking areas. We need to be better at supplying those players and controlling the games from midfield.

The only one who can really help Marcus is Marcus.

He's being given every opportunity by Mourinho, its up to him to take it..

About time Jose started coming out swinging. The amount of shit we've copped in the last few weeks from pundits and the media has been ridiculous. Fergie would have gone on a banning spree.

This. People seem to think Rashford has a right to be in the team, this is particularly apparent in non Utd fans who think because he’s played for England he’s automatically good enough for Utd, it’s hilarious.

I would want us to add a 10 because we are short there, and also a left footed RW option for the sake of team balance. On the whole though, we're 85-90% there.

If he's to become the player everyone wants him to be, then surely he should be looking to compete for those same minutes?

I get what you're saying, but feel that Sanchez is just a different type of player so not sure what he'll learn. Maybe the bloody mindedness to get the best out of his ability? But I think that's already inherent it's just a case of how high the talent ceiling is

    It's very likely we'll be sticking with a 433, so we won't need a #10.

I'd say Rashford and Sanchez are quite similar players actually. Both are all about explosiveness in their play, both aren't exactly the best techincally (although they're still very good) but make up for it with power and explosiveness. Both take risks in their game.

Should have called out Redknapp by name. That clown deserves to be publicly humiliated for his comments.

Let’s please not compare Rashford and Sanchez in the technique department. There is no comparison between the two.

    Why not?

It helps him to train week in week out alongside a world class player and if we assume Alexis starts most games on the right of attack then IMO that still helps Marcus as that is clearly not his position. He is a wide left attacker or a central striker so I don't see why Alexis coming effects his starts. Also playing alongside him as well as training with him can only improve him.

The correct role for Marcus this season has always been rotating with Martial on the left and central striking roles and arguably starting him in a position he is unsuited to wide right can actually set him back more than improve him in terms of confidence. He's still only 20 so should still be relatively like a sponge in terms of learning and we now have less need to shoe horn him into a position he is unsuited to.

Seems like he's confirming we won't be after a RW/CAM. Will be strengthening the CM spot and a fullback.

Obviously, but I was just making a point that in regards to their play styles, they're quite similar. Even if Sanchez is obviously the superior player.

I actually thought he played well next to Alexis, good movement, and energy from the both of them.

Midfield for sure. Need to improve on Herrera, Carrick is retiring, Fellaini maybe leaving and not good enough. Could definitely use two new midfielders. Pogba and Matic can't play every game, and we saw how the team plummeted without Pogba.

Yeah I think a CM and fullback is what we need most. Darmian and Blind are done here and Carrick and Fellaini are probably off.

Fantastic interview on every level. Backed his players, backed himself, refuted some of the rubbish coming out of the mouths of pundits, and dismissed the idea of us signing Ronaldo to boot. What a man
