    You guys are slipping!

WE WANT TO ACHIEVE BIG THINGS
In a stirring declaration, Jose said: "We want to improve all the time, we want to be better and better. We want to achieve big things. We are not going to stop until we do that and the evolution of players is very important."

    ALEXIS INCREASES COMPETITION
"This is life in big clubs,” the boss stated. “In big clubs, you have big players, competition and responsibilities – you have to try to go to every competition in a serious way. You cannot do that with 11 players, so the players at big clubs know that the squad is made of 20-something players where everybody wants to play and where there is space for everybody. Alexis is a very important addition for us. If the players are on the bench one day and they don't like it, I'm happy with that."

    NO HENRIKH REGRETS
The boss continued: “Could he have performed better for us? Could I take more from his talent? Maybe. Could he also have given more to try to adapt to us? Maybe. But I don't think regrets. In our history, he did important things for us, so a good feeling for everybody and a very specific transfer between two rivals in the same country is something that should happen more."

MICKI WILL BE EVEN BETTER AT ARSENAL
On Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s move to Arsenal, Mourinho said: "I lost a fantastic player, Mr Wenger lost a fantastic player. I got a fantastic player, Mr Wenger got a fantastic player, so it was a great deal for everybody. I believe Micki is going to be even better than for us. Why? Because one-and-a-half years in England, adapted. Because of the way they play. That's why I'm also happy for him.”

    WHERE WILL ALEXIS PLAY?
Having worked in Italy, Spain and England at the same time as Alexis, Jose knows his new capture “very, very well”. “I saw him play on the right, the left, as a striker and behind the striker, he said. “I saw him play in different systems, I saw him successful in every country. He becomes more than a player because of that multi-functionality. He can play in four different positions."

    BOSS RESPONDS TO RONALDO RUMOUR
Cristiano Ronaldo has again been linked with a return to United in some sections of the media. Jose said: "Real Madrid is a club I care about, so I am the last one to add [to the] fire. To put some water on the fire, I would say Cristiano is the kind of player that everyone wants, but only one manager can have and only one club can have – Zidane and Real Madrid. That's my feeling."

SANCHEZ WILL BE IMPORTANT FOR US
Asked what Alexis will bring to his squad, the boss said: “He showed already the quality he has so we've got one of the best attacking players in the world. I think he'll be very important for us because we want to have the best possible players."

    It's on.

Jose has confirmed that Sanchez will be in the squad for the Yeovil game.

He has said it is unlikely Ronaldo joins United.

He has said both United and Arsenal got good deals in the Sanchez/Miki swap.

“I think was a fantastic deal and a fantastic deal is only fantastic if it is good for everybody. United and Arsenal made a fantastic deal, I lost a fantastic player, Mr Wenger lost a fantastic player, Alexis changed from a fantastic club to a giant club and Mkhi changed for a fantastic club, so was a great deal for everybody.” - Jose

He has also confirmed the versatility of Sanchez, indirectly indicating that he could use him anywhere in the frontline of United.

"Everywhere, in the attacking positions. I know him for many, many years, I was with him in Italy at Udinese, in Spain, when he was at Barcelona, in England, when he was at Arsenal, so our careers are almost made in the same countries simultaneously, so I know him very, very well.

“I saw him play on the right, on the left, as a striker and behind the striker, these are Alexis’ positions.

“I saw him play different tactical systems, different philosophies of different managers, I saw him successful in every country with every manager and every position so he’s a player that becomes more than a player because of that motivation, he can play in four different positions.”

He has also warned his players to sit up as anyone can lose his place in the team as is common with top level clubs. He of course had the competition Sanchez's arrival brings in mind.

“This is life in big clubs. In big clubs you have big players, you have competition, you have responsibilities, you have to perform always, you have to try to go to every competition in a serious way. You cannot do that with 11 players, it is impossible, so the players in big clubs know the squad is 20 something where everybody wants to play. What we cannot do is play 12 at the same time, start with 12 a certain match, but space for everybody and needed for everybody I think is absolutely fundamental.”

Hopefully that means hell use him on the right and keep Martial on the left.

So going by that, Martial is safe. He's nailed to start on the left.

Remains to be seen whether Alexis plays as RW or if Lingard is shunted to the right to accommodate him through the middle.

So he doesn't want to add fuel to the CR7 fire, and proceeds to add fuel to the fire.

We're going to buy him back, aren't we? :(

I just hope no Yeovil player will have a kick at Sanchez and injure him before he gets a few games under his belt.

Spot on on sanchez. Best thing about him he doesnt really need a system to perform in. He'll attack and be a threat regardless

Looking forward to seeing Sanchez play for us. Should give us a new pacey/strong outlet which should help to ease pressure on the rest of the team. Just hope he settles in quickly.

Some good strong words from Jose. Sounds like the transfer might have lifted him too. Seems like he might have said similar stuff to the board after complaining about the spending earlier.

On another note, can you buy that top that Jose has on in the OP?

Would not be worried about Martial keeping his place, he will do, I suspect the player under most threat from Sanchez will be Mata!

If he doesn’t score then he’s a waste of money, can’t even score against Yeovil. Jose hasn’t developed him like Pep would have. :D

That is just... refreshing. We're back being a big club. I can feel it.

Yes, lets not actually play him at all ever, in case he gets injured.

You realise he could just as easily get injured walking those stupid dogs as playing football. Didn't that happen to someone once?

Honestly, you don't buy a player not to play him, he must be raring to go.

Very nice stuff from Jose, particularly about Mkhi. He didn't work out here, he's a still a good player and Arsenal should be hopeful about rediscovering the German POTY.

Some good stuff on Sanchez too. As we suspected it seems he'll start out on the right but I'm sure he'll be given license to move infield.
