There is a big difference between buying a stake of about 8% as mentioned in the tweet and outright buying the club.

8% might be small but it could be the start of a Glazer exit strategy. Who knows.

Doesn't sound good for me if there are more than one owner. Conflicting interest is the last thing a club want.

Really don't like the idea of any sort of ownership insecurity right now in our present state, but for such a small stake it's intriguing.

I guess it is possible some shares are for sale as Kevin, Edward and Darcie don't seem that interested in the club by all accounts compared to Joel, Avram and Bryan, so one or more of the former three might be selling a bit of their stake.

funny wouldn't have crossed my mind but Jonathan Wilson was talking about United on Football Weekly and suggested that the Glazers were very concerned about the club value and Brexit - he said they were holding back on some transfers

I'm no economist but I wonder with changes to the economy have we peaked in value as a club?

maybe the Glazers just want to take a lump sum out and 8% could be 200 million plus?

Considering how rich the Chinese are, I am surprised they haven't really step into the EPL market. Would rather sell our club to the Chinese than the Russians or Arabs. Hopefully that mystery man is Jack Ma or Wang Jianlin.

Would rather it was an Arab sheikh so we could brake the 220 world record.

I want us to be even more aggressive in the transfer market, so if this is what it takes so be it. This sounds like a fairly small development though.

GS Xi Jingping is a United fan; wouldn't mind being partially owned by (not really) Communist People's Republic of China.

8%. Doubt they'll spend anything then on something meaningful to the fans. Probably just to tell their mates they own a bit of United.

The valuation of the club is going to based on earning potential of the club. I take anything Brexit related with a huge bucket of salt. If we continue to win silverware, we will at least remain as valuable as we are right now. Major sponsors will always want to be associated with one of the biggest names in sports. The problems start if we can't pick ourselves up and start competing for titles and CL.

I'm aware that he owns 20% stake in Atletico Madrid and considering he is currently the richest man in China, I am surprised why Atletico Madrid is still running on such a tight budget. Anyway, does this mean he cannot own a stake in another football club?

Thing is there is difference between an investor only putting money to get something out vs one boasting their wealthyness via a club. In term of playboysm, I have my doubt on the Chinese. Even with AC Milan they investment ain't much on the whole scheme compared to us. Only the Arabs are something else.

It probably just makes the sport more interesting for these billionaires, like betting on a game for the average Joe!

And I would have said he couldn't a while ago, but seeing what happened with Watford, Udinese and Granada, now with City and Girona I'm inclined to say he could also have a stake in United.

It's how it starts. The 8% could then easily become 30-40% within a few years, before leading to a total take over.
