England's got a decent chance here. It might just be coming home.

Seems a bit daft to have the final so close to the semis while also allowing the winner of Portugal vs Switzerland an extra days rest.

I do think the Nations League is a bunch of glorified friendlies but on the off chance this becomes another European Cup we might as well do a Real Madrid and take it seriously before anyone else does. We should be the favourites out of those four.

I know we're in trouble when I look forward to watching England play over United. Was the other way around for such a long period of time. I actually think UEFA will be pleased as punch with how the Nations League has turned out in its first 'season'; there have been some cracking games, played with a pretty high level of intensity.

Would love a Portugal-Netherlands final and a repeat of this:

I think they are massively pissed with the countries qualifying for the final four. They expected France instead of the Netherlands and Belgium instead of Switzerland, it would have much more appeal for neutral viewers all over the world in that case. Portugal - Switzerland sounds like a match from world cup qualifiers, not like a match between 2 of the 4 best teams in Europe.

Both teams are missing those foul players they had running around back then. Nothing compared to now..

Oh the good ol' days

 What a game that was.
Not sure if we should be happy or sad that we won't see these kind of games now because of VAR.:p

UEFA is getting too predictable. For the Nations League, I predicted we'd draw France and Germany. For the qualifiers, I predicted we would of course draw Germany. For these finals, it was clear we would get England. It's pretty simple, just pick the strongest possible teams and UEFA will hand them to us. Not sure what we did to them. Not that I'm complaining, I prefer a game against England to one against Switzerland. But next time I should put some money on it.

We’ve made the semifinals in 4 of the past 5 Euros, we are the champions of Europe with the biggest star in the sport captaining us.

UEFA will love how this turned out. Switzerland is the only team that shouldn’t generate a lot of interest in neutrals.

It wasn‘t a slight on Portugal, or else I would have mentioned how Italy could have been there instead. If Cristiano plays, having his name attached to the tournament is always a big pull for a world wide audience and more casual viewers.

I mainly think Switzerland is a boring side, they lack any exciting players and I know too many of them from Bundesliga.

Agreed but if anything I think it makes it more exciting rather than having a Germany, France or Spain. Switzerland will really want to win their first trophy ever and they’ll take it very seriously.

I don‘t have a problem with countries being there who are not former World Cup winners, I liked Croatia in the world cup final because they have many quality players and at least they tried to play some football.

I just don‘t see many quality players at Switzerland, Manuel Akanji is the only one with world class potential.

    It's coming home.

Can't wait, might even look into going out there for it.

Why have this so close to the Champions League final?

CL final is on the 1st of June and the first semifinal is on the 5th, we could easily end up with no Ronaldo or no Bernardo Silva...

Actually that's a very good point, seeing as so much of our team are City lads, I'll be hoping even more that they don't make the final, or we're in a bit of bother.

It should make for an interesting match. Netherlands seem to be on the up again and have some great talents of their own in de Jong and de Ligt.

We have the reincarnation of Cruijff now, you lot have no chance. Wait, Cruijff never actually won anything with the national team, feck.

Ah well, Memphis will wreck you.

Because that's the window for the international break. The rest of the countries will be playing Euro qualifiers in that period. Having the internationals straight after the club season ends is 100x better than having it later in June. Get the internationals done as soon as possible so that the players can have a few weeks off.

I don't see why CL finalists would miss these games. The issue usually is that they need 10-12 days off after the CL final so that they are fresh for the long summer tournament. This isn't a long tournament but a regular international break.

By the way, the same Ronaldo played in the 2017 final on June 3 and was banging in goals vs Latvia in the World Cup qualifiers on June 9. So this isn't an issue at all and nothing the players aren't used to from previous non-WC/Euro years.

I would've liked to meet England in the finals to complete Depay's redemption arc. :)

On a more serious note, this will be a good match up, I can't say who has the stronger team.
It will be fun to see Kane vs De Ligt/van Dijk and I hope the winner of this match will win the Finals.

You are very similar to England, just a year or 2 younger in development. I expect Holland to be back as a force by 2022 World Cup.

    My predictions -

    Portugal 2-0 Switzerland
England 3-2 Holland (this could be a classic)

Portugal 1-1 England (Portugal win on pens)

I live in England and nobody cares about it at all to be honest mate.

Holland's got a slightly better defence, England has a better offence. Would say midfield is about the same.
But this is just talking about individual qualities, England probably has better players on paper, but I think the Dutch players have more cohesion.
So IMO I can't tell who has the stronger team.

Either way I have a soft spot for England and have supported them through the w.c. I hope the winner of this game wins the finals as well.
