I think he needs to be given time. We have been through a massive rollercoaster the last few years, seeking quick fixes and trying to jump ahead of ourselves.

I'd prefer a year of younger players being inconsistent than another year of old mercenaries here for a final payday.

I think the translator has done untold damage to structures and relationships within the club. It needs to heal and this will take time.

I was at the womens game on Saturday and Ole was there, along with his wife and some officials from FA and the club.

What was noticable was the Ole engaged with everyone and so did his wife. She was clearly smiling and congratulating members of the wider United family.

Ole will get the club back to the core values we had even before Sir Alex. If he doesn't make the grade as manager he can easily be moved upstairs as a director and be a football person on the board, ready to succeed Sir Bobby and Sir Alex.

Give him some time and let him establish the journey even if he doesn't complete it as Manager I have every faith he will put the club first...unlike some of his squad.

How the hell did McTominay end up cb yesterday, was there no cb on the bench?

Edit: Just checked and no CB on the bench, what dreadful management. 5 midfielders and a left back as his outfield options. Makes no sense, guy is out of his depth.

It was a nothing match and he used up 2 matchday places for Gomes & Greenwood, prefer that to using Darmian who simply won’t be here next season.

He should have had a cb on the bench, even if it was an U23 player. Not surprised though as his team selections and subs have been woeful for ages now.

I suspect a number of our CBs are on the way out.

Throwing an under23 CB to the wolves wouldn't do anyone any good.

The analysis was excellent. I envisage that the less than favourable responses you've received are from individuals who have no compulsion to engage with the post on any level. The retort that "you can find these mistakes from all teams" is a disingenuous one because it forgets one very important fact; that United have a poor defensive record by comparison, and therefore your pointing out the mistakes isn't some arbitrary thing. It's a snapshot of why United have said poor defensive record.

We might as well start thinking about next summer now, its pretty obvious that we are going to be in the same position if not worse. Ole wont get us even 7th at best and will be sacked.

Sounds like when Everton fans were pleased to see the back of Moyes

By the Wolves I mean supporters, by the way. Throw a couple a young CB into our back four and watch them end their United career by struggling just like all our defenders. Yeah that’s a really good idea.

It was a meaningless game against a relegated side. The logical thing is to give the fans some new faces to watch at least instead of playing Ashley fecking Young again or some thing. Actually it would have made the loss more bearable and with an excuse, but to play all the main team bar 1 youngster then proceed to lose anyway, ridiculous.

So which CB from the under 23s would you like to see? And why should the club captain not get a run out?

I'm not talking about CBs only. Literally as many young players as he can. What's the problem ? It's a meaningless game with no pressure on.

Why should the club captain play ? We don't need his experience (even though it's not present anyway) in such game.

It's a game against a relegated side at home in a season you're already finishing 6th in. If this isn't a chance to field a lineup full of youth then when will we ? Give some youth their debut at Old Trafford in front of the crowd.

I think it could destroy young players to play in the current climate. I’ve no problem with Ole’s selection yesterday. If anything he played players that should form the core next year. Scary.

He'll be out the club soon, said time and time again that the only thing that will keep Ole his job is a miracle. Overnight he'll need to be a better coach then pep, play better football than the top four and install a winning mentality in addition to having the tactical acumen to succeed.

Sacked by late november, it's almost a given.

Ole has also presided over our worst run of form since 1962. We play dire, archaic football, team seemingly has no direction/system, weird formations, late and ineffective subs are a constant, and he has a penchant to persist with players that are in horrible form, and even in the winning run we won multiple times against the run of play:

if he gets credit for "salvaging" the situation, then he should too be held responsible for pretty much running it off a cliff.

It's a team in the championship. Surely we have some players in the U23s who are capable enough to play there? Or are we more fecked than I thought?

That guy made some good points and some OTT points but one thing he was spot on was about the part "mourinho cult". Not saying everyone but there are many who were loudest in defending Jose are the loudest in criticizing Ole. All the players were crap before and how Jose should have been backed to improve the team, but same excuse and benefit of doubt is not given to the manager who didn't even sign a single player or preseason to work on anything. Again not everyone but there are few obvious ones.

Before he was made permanent, contract talks would have started way before Ole was even appointed caretaker, but whatever suits your (and others) agenda.

He signed the contract while Ole was manager. If Ole didnt want him he could have blocked the procedure at any point. Unless ofcourse he is just a yes man.

Tbf I also find it odd how many former Jose supporters who told us to back the manager no matter what have no problem doubting Ole. Was their loyalty just a Jose thing?

Jose Mourinho has won titles in every country he has been in. Ole won the Norwegian league in 2012. That's the difference.
