Northern Ireland international Oliver Norwood has confirmed his Manchester United adventure is over.

The 21-year-old, who featured in Northern Ireland’s 6-0 defeat to Holland last weekend, has been at Old Trafford since the age of seven but he won’t be putting pen to paper in a new deal.

Norwood, who impressed last season in the Championship at Coventry City, said: “It’s important that I get first team football, though it was the hardest decision of my life.”

Another Northern Ireland international on the move is Rory McArdle who was a free agent when his contract expired at Aberdeen.

The 25-year-old has agreed to join Bradford City in a two-year deal.

“Once I heard about the opportunity to come here, I jumped at the chance,” said McArdle.

Meanwhile, former Northern Ireland international Damien Johnson has linked up with Fleetwood Town.

The midfielder has turned down an offer to stay at Huddersfield, choosing Fleetwood instead.

Manager Micky Mellon is delighted to get the experienced Johnson on board.

He said of the player capped over 50 times for Northern Ireland: “Damien is a good footballer and a real leader.

“I have been trying to sign him for some time and when Huddersfield offered him a contract, I thought that would be the end of it.

“He decided to be part of the exciting plans that we have here.”

He looks very talented.. I like him.
But he isnt ready for the first team and there is plenty of competition in the reserves.. he is old enough to want a permanent club now..

Hope he gets a good one.

    He's excellent.

Him, Guthrie and David Jones would be my perfect midfield,

    Big mistake from Ferguson.

How is this a big mistake from SAF, he has nothing to do with it?

I'd agree with that. That team with Anderson at left back and Delfouneso as a striker would've been brilliant.

Fair play to Norwood for recognising he needs to make the move. I hope it works out for him.

It was easier for him than the likes of Gibson. He never received great encouragement to stay - never mentioned by Fergie, for instance, in a list of promising young'uns. Iirc.

Never thought he was good enough to be honest. Below Gibson in regards to talent in my view as well.
