Might not be the most consistent in terms of both starts and performances but these four are really starting to rack up the numbers we expect:

Lukaku 16 Goals and 5 Assists
Lingard 11 Goals and 5 Assists
Martial 9 Goals and 9 Assists
Rashford 9 Goals and 8 Assists

That's 45 goals and 27 assists between them. Pretty amazing, to be honest. Could quite easily double that tally by May.

And, you could possibly add Pogba (3G and 11A) and make it a front 5.

Rashford's stats look good but he is way out of form. Mata will have his place for now I think.

Lingard's stats are astonishing especially considering his minutes on the pitch, and more pointedly how poor his stats were last season.

The important thing is that when one player's form wavers another steps up. Lingard's amazing run of goals has been perfectly timed to cover Lukaku and Rashford drying up a bit.

After a promising start Pogba will be disappointed not to be up there closer to the others. He should be aiming to get his goalscoring boots back on and have 10 by the end of the season.

    Last season overall:

    Lingard: 5 goals, 3 assists
    Martial: 8 goals, 8 assists
    Rashford: 11 goals, 6 assists
    Pogba: 9 goals, 6 assists

Then there was Ibra with 28 goals and 10 assists. Lukaku is 12 goals and 5 assists away from that, I can see him getting that or at least coming very close. The good thing is we're no longer relying on one star striker to do everything for us.

They still take too long to kill of teams though. That is why I insist we need to invest in two or three world class attackers.

Can Lingard play the CM role that Mkhitaryan played tonight? His pressing and relentless movement would be really useful there.

Rashford at RW is the only one that needs to improve to play that position. We will surely sign a RW soon, so Rashford can play backup to the front 3 positions.

    Martial - Lukaku - Rashford
    ........Pogba - Lingard
    ..............Matic

Besides obviously Mkhi, Mata has been the most disappointing out of our forwards. Especially since you could always count on him to get about 10 goals a season. He seems to be picking up form lately though.

Basically the two of our senior AMs are not doing enough this season.

Mata was disappointing in the early part of the season but he is playing well now. Not sure he does well when rotating in and out of the team. See also Shaw and Herrera.

Starting to look like the 2006 side where there is no one player who's relied upon for goals but more like 3 or 4 who are all in double figures and given the ages of these players they should all get better

Yeah, hope they continue to find the same for in the second half of the season. 4 people getting 20 goals a season - would be great. Ideally would like Mata, Miki and Pogba get about half that as well. Unlikely though.

Mata has been excellent. Rashford the most disappointing. Mkhi a bit uneven, also to be fair. Both of these need to find form and the others keep theirs.

Lingard, Martial, Rashford, Mata, Miki. None of them have a solid 100% nailed down position in the side. They have no position on the pitch or system that's theirs.

Oddly and unexpectedly, Jess is the one that seems to be grasping the nettle and carving out a place for himself. Don't rate him. But he's proving me wrong on so many fronts.

Not criticizing Mourinho, but you can feel our players (bar Lingard in this form) have more potential than what have been extracted. I believe we would eventually get there. Other people may be not as patient.

That is blinding. If they all equal that in 2nd half of season, they would be right up there. Good lads. It is what we needed last year. More chaps chipping in with goals

This is the feeling with every manager post-SAF, the reality is that SAF warped the perception of the quality of players that are required at the top level because of his ability to raise the level of his players.

SAF could take a talented, inconsistent player and turn him into the best player in the league (Nani at his peak), whereas Mourinho is still working on Martial. He could take several players past their prime and have them form the best defence in the league, whereas Guardiola has to spend 200m on a new defence.

You don't really see it so much these days(with the odd exception), but we could do with a 6' 2" centre-half chipping in with 7/8 goals for when the strikers and midfielders misfire.

There's nowt better than going to one of your main rivals and nicking a 1-0 win with a towering-header from a corner.

Mata and Mkhitaryan need to start producing more, as they're sitting on 3G4A and 2G6A respectively - pretty similar end product, but not good enough. It's more disappointing due to the fact it feels like they get more opportunity from the start than the other guys who are getting into the double figures (more-so Mata as the season has gone on). If starting all four isn't something that works well, or is something José would rather not do so he has one real game changer in reserve, then we should probably be playing 433 instead. Use Herrera or Fellaini in midfield.

The four mentioned in the OP are doing about as well as or better than what I would have put them down for at the start of the season, Jesse Lingard especially. I'd have gone for 30 goals for Lukaku, which is still more than doable. While I would've said 15 each for Martial and Rashford, mostly because of Zlatan coming back to likely play more of the reserve striker role and those two lads interchanging this season from the left wing like they have done for the majority of the season thus far. Lingard, I was more expecting 5G5A but he's already smashing it.

This is something that's often overlooked with Lukaku because he seems to have been around forever, but he is actually younger than both Lingard & Pogba..!

Good point. Don't understand why Phil Jones never goes forward for set pieces other then when he's taking them.

Stats of each teams top 5 attackers with the most minutes:

    Man City
    De Bruyne - 7 goals, 12 assists
    Sterling - 18 goals, 6 assists
    Silva - 5 goals, 11 assists
    Sane - 9 goals, 12 assists
    Aguero - 18 goals, 4 assists

    Total: 57 goals, 45 assists

    Chelsea
    Morata - 12 goals, 4 assists
    Hazard - 9 goals, 8 assists
    Willian - 7 goals, 9 assists
    Pedro - 5 goals, 4 assists
    Batshuayi - 7 goals, 0 assists

    Total: 40 goals, 25 assists

    Liverpool
    Firmino - 16 goals, 8 assists
    Salah - 23 goals, 8 assists
    Mane - 8 goals, 6 assists
    Coutinho - 12 goals, 9 assists
    Sturridge - 3 goals, 3 assists

    Total: 62 goals, 34 assists

    Arsenal
    Sanchez - 8 goals, 4 assists
    Lacazette - 8 goals, 4 assists
    Ozil - 4 goals, 5 assists
    Giroud - 7 goals, 0 assists
    Iwobi - 1 goal, 2 assists

    Total: 28 goals, 15 assists

    Spurs
    Kane - 26 goals, 3 assists
    Eriksen - 6 goals, 8 assists
    Alli - 9 goals, 10 assists
    Son - 10 goals, 5 assists
    Sissoko - 2 goals, 3 assists

    Total: 53 goals, 29 assists

Some of these seem unfair on some players though, such as Jesus who still made a good contribution to City. Or players such as Azpilicueta or Ramsey who aren't technically attacking players but still get quite a few assists.

This is so true and an often unsaid point.

During our best run we had not one but two such players - Vidic who put his head anywhere the ball was when in our own D or the opposition D.

And Ferdy, who was fantastic with both head and foot

Yes, it was a combination of last season being truly a freakish one in terms of finishing for our players, and Jose getting the most out of the players this season.

We still lack some bite from the FBs and perhaps the midfield (other than Pogba). If we can score 80+ this season, we will be pretty amazing to watch once we sign atleast two out of a proper #10, a RW and a CM.

There's way too much criticism of Rashford, Martial and Lukaku on here, who I think are all making good contributions is a team that's still not quite found its attacking chemistry.

The passing contributions between them are still a problem - too many players not passing to each other when in dangerous situations but overall there's huge potential to work with, plus Jesse, Pogba and perhaps one more stellar player.

Those numbers are rather flattering. Earlier this season we managed to kill off a fair number of weak teams that capitulated late on, which racked up the numbers.

I am not convinced by our front 4 whatsoever.

You're right because this is only true of United. Other teams near the top all have a fair, even, and balanced distribution of goals that prove, even when we've out scored them, and sit above all but one, that they are ultimately better than us... because Jose.

My guess why Jones does not go to oppo box is because of injury concern maybe..Or we dont want to commit more than 5 in the box.....Even if he goes, I do not expect him to win headers.

REgarding Ferdinand, he hardly scored anything after 05/06 season. In fact, its something like 7/8 goals in 6 or 7 seasons since 2007 till he retired.

    Another few goals and assists:

Lukaku 17 Goals and 5 Assists
Lingard 11 Goals and 5 Assists
Martial 10 Goals and 10 Assists
Rashford 9 Goals and 8 Assists
Pogba 3 Goals and 13 Assists

Thats now 50 goals and 41 assists.

    For comparisons:

Aguero 19 Goals and 5 Assists
Sterling 18 Goals and 5 Assists
De Bruyne 8 Goals and 12 Assists
Sane 10 Goals and 12 Assists
Silva 5 Goals and 11 Assists

Thats a total of 60 goals and 44 assists.
