What you have to consider first is the ambition and the mentality on the pitch, and that, Paul Pogba has it. Ander Herrera too. They both want to fight and get the win, which is precious because it's easy to give up when things seem insurmountable.

A young giggs was pretty similar to pogba in terms of lifestyle, if anything pogba's probably is better in that regard.

Surprising you mention Giggs. He was quite the showman in his day. He wasn't always 41, you know.

Perhaps, but Giggs was also much older before he wore the armband. He was never even made captain, was he? I can't really recall, actually.

You have probably seen much more of Pogba than me. From what I've seen though, he just doesn't strike as a leader or a fighter. He's sublime and will most likely only get better, but I just don't see him as a captain. I can more easily see Herrera as one, but I'm not sure if he's good enough.

I know, but Giggs didn't wear the armband until he was quite old, did he?
I'm a little too young to really remember him as a youngster:)

Same, I'm 22. Didn't see him in his prime. But I'm going off all the documentaries I've watched

He's got a different personality than typical captains but he can be an effective leader too I'm sure! A cool leader to have around that the squad likes and respects what he says because of that and his undeniable skill...

No, Giggs was never captain, at least not in any permanent capacity. Vidic took over from Neville, and stayed captain until he left. By that point, Giggs had retired.

Mourinho talks about him being the 'leader of the young guys' when asked about being a future captain. Has 'conditions' to be an important guy in the club. Has experience which others don't in Europe and Internationally. But still remains a genuine guy who has a relationship with staff/players.

I would have preferred Pogba or Valencia being made captain than giving it to Carrick.

Definitely agree! He's going to be the face of our club marketing wise and I do honestly think he'd make a great captain too.

I get what your trying to say, but only Keane out of the players you mentioned was actually club captain.

I think he'd be a great captain. Young players clearly respect and look up to him and his ability and example he sets on the pitch would make him one, would be happy with either him or Herrera if I'm honest.
