    Nice one @Pogue Mahone

Not sure there are many choices I disagree with there, all earned their stripes this season. Maybe Big Dave, but not sure anyone has been better than him this season either?

Why Luiz and Cahill but not Azpi?

Cahill ahead of Vertonghen/Alderweireld is surely a joke. Also you could argue for Lloris/Courtouis instead of Dave. The rest is OK for me.

Sanchez ahead of Mane is maybe one argument to have. Other than that can't really complain.

We have the second best defensive record but none in team of the year.

Have Cahill and Luiz really been better than our defense, come on.

Can't really complain with the team. I think Valencia has been our best player this season and done a lot more than Walker. That might be my only complaint.

Zlatan can feel hard done by to not get in the squad as well.

Alderweireld should be there over Cahill.

Other than that it's probably a fair list, bit harsh on Sanchez and Ibra but you can see why the others were picked ahead of them.

Our defense has constantly changed, though. Which of our defenders has played consistently enough this season to warrant a place? Both those players have played pretty much every game for Chelsea.

You know I was thinking of that, Cahill has been alright and part of a really good Chelsea defense, but swapping Toby in for him would have been fair too like.

Other than that I think the team has picked itself, good selections.

17% of the season still to play and they bring out the team of the year. It's as bad as MOTM awards they give in the 85th minute.

Kind of surprised to see De Gea. He's been OK but definitely his worst season for a few years.

De Gea hasn't had the greatest of seasons, Courtois, Heaton and Pickford all deserve it before him and Azpilicueta has been faultless at the back for Chelsea. Other than that the team is fine.

Perhaps a 352 with Alderweireld instead of Mane?

Alderweireld, Valencia, and Sanchez are arguable over Cahill, Walker, and Mane for me. Possibly a different keeper to de Gea this time as well, but it was slim pickings this year in terms of being outstanding.

Think if they actually voted at the end of the season Toby would have sneaked in ahead of Cahill.

Does anyone know how this is decided in terms of player positions? Does it always have to be a 4-4-2? So there's never a proper number 10? And why is someone like Ali put in as a CM?

Was going to say Rojo, who's also been our best defender. Checked his stats and he's only made 18 PL appearances. Which was a surprise. Puts an interesting spin on that "Impressive Defensive Stats" thread. Can you imagine how hard we will be to break down once we have a settled back four?!

So, Sanchez is nominated for player of the year. Mane isn't.

Mane makes it into the PFA Team of the year. Sanchez doesn't.

    Makes sense.

These things are always dominated by the top two teams. Interesting that there's no City players, must be the first time since the Sheik that's happened.

Luiz has largely been excellent, Cahill less so, but Chelsea's defence for the first half of the season was excellent on the whole.

Cahill and De Gea shouldn't be in there, other then that no arguments really. Maybe Sanchez over Mane, but thats it.

Hate how they shoehorn Alli into midfield. He's a forward not a midfielder.

Surprised it wasn't a selection of 11 Kantes.

I don't see the problem with De Gea being in there. Who's been better? Definitely not Courtois. Maybe Lloris but that's so close as not worth calling.

The team seems mostly sensible to me, I can even half understand Mane over Sanchez since Sanchez has played up front for most of the season. I would also have Alderweireld over Cahill though.

Cahill and Luiz have played in Chelsea's defence for the entire season, and have been excellent for the most part.

I think both deserve to be in there. Sanchez over Mane is the other obvious one.

Would also remove Cahil & Mané and bring in Alderweireld & Sanchez

Despite that the team looks good - DDG is debatable at least..

De Gea out Courtois in. And Azpilicueta for Luiz.

My main disagreement is that there are still 6 games to go. It's quite silly that these things happen before anything is decided.

    My changes would be:
    Courtois for De Gea
    Valencia for Walker
    Alderwiereld for Cahill
    Alexis for Mane

De Gea has not even been best GK at the club. Not sure there are any great candidates this year, but he's been real average all season.

Yeah Rojo only started playing regularly when Jones and Smalling got injured I think, around December-ish. Been brilliant for us though, never expected him of all people to turn out so good.

There's not really been a standout GK, that's true. And I hate seeing lionheart goalkeepers who are constantly in action because of how shite their team is get it (Heston this year, the likes of the Marshall a few years ago at Cardiff etc). So I'd give it to Courtois/Lloris on the basis that either will win the league

DDG has done nothing wrong all season so how can there be complaints? Can remember Lloris fecking up a few times but probably Cortois has a case.

Valencia has been better than Walker but bit of an English bias there I suppose.

Although I am a Chelsea fan, I would put Alderweireld in place of Cahill since Spurs have been solid defensively as well. In fact I would have put Azpi in place of Cahill who has been flawless.
Also, Mane while being amazing for Pool would likely make way for Sanchez who has been nominated for PFA POTY award.

Still comfortably better than any other EPL keeper this season.
