Why they hell don't Buffonge and Whelan ever get a game?

So out of touch with the U23s over last 2 years. Barely recognise anyone there.

Whelan started against Chelsea, Derby, West Ham and Sunderland.

DJ Buffonge started against Chelsea, Derby and West Ham. He came on as sub for most of the other games.

Over 20 players in U23 squad so lots of them will be getting to start half the fixtures or less. Personally I'm not convinced the U23 fixture list justifies a squad that size, especially when you've got the occasional first team player occupying a place in the team and tons of U18s who could play 15 mins if required.

Tom Cleverley first went out on loan aged 19 years 5 months to Leicester then in League One. There's a few in the current U23 squad who will be a similar age in Jan.

Quite why we need 4 keepers in the U23s is beyond me, especially when Joel Pereira is virtually a non-playing member of the first team squad.

Strange to see Tyler Reid only on their bench, unless he's coming back from injury.

Jonathan Greening, taking co-commentary to a different level !!

Celtic must've had a bad day at the office if this lot beat them 6-0

Every group has two English teams (plus Swansea) and two international teams. In our group is Celtic and Athletic Bilbao.
