    Wow. That's bad.

Mind you, the ref's previous claim to fame was that he was the guy who failed to give Barcelona a goal against Betis, even though the ball was way over the line. Obviously wants to be famous.

How can a ref be allowed to be such a bellend? No wonder the lack of respect becomes worse when such incidents happrn

    Got off lightly.

Michael Oliver would have sent Herrera off after he avoided the first bottle.

In situations like this, you don't know what sort of language players use to communicate with the refs. Granted, missile throwing is an offence in itself but surely no referee could be stupid enough to book him for handing him a bottle. I'd suspect he may have used some choice words, but i am sure it will all become clear in the post match refs report.

I think he was probably done for time wasting which is ridiculous when a player is being pelted with projectiles.

Mark Noble would've picked Herrera up and carried him off the pitch.

Players have to play with passion and blood.. literally. Time is gold.

    -Ref

White text, that is a bad referee-ing, the player doesn't even blatantly waste time. Sheesh. I'm surprised there are no stadium security or something.

Yet if anything happened to the ref he'd probably start breakdancing, rather like the guy Paul Alcock did when Di Canio pushed him.

Today in a non-league friendly I saw the ref drop his cards. A player pointed this out to him and was booked for his pains! Same ref also booked another player for shouting to his team mates.

I don't care if it's a Vinnie Jones 2 footed lunge, a Roy Keane sideswipe or indeed a Jiff lemon bottle aimed at your head, there is simply no excuse for diving. Deserved his booking he did!

 Brilliant. You can't do that as a player, but you certainly can't do that as a referee .

What a fecking prize twat, and they wonder why refs get so much stick, I wish the ref was hit by a bottle while he was giving him the yellow card, he'd probably have sent him off ffs.

I asked Jonathan Moss if this was the correct decision and he agreed with the ref because he not only kicked a bottle once but twice.

I'd say he got off lucky. Three more kicks and he would have landed himself some jailtime for illegally transporting litter.

He began by saying he didn't see the incident! I mean how could that be the case when Griffiths held up the bottle and all! Where did he think it could have come from?

What really pissed me off though was that he said players in Manchester derby's would get similar abuse from opposition fans. For all the Manchester derby's I've seen I've never seem a player have a glass bottle thrown at them. The fact that he hasn't come out and condoned their behaviour makes him as bad as them. Absolute scumbag.

As a Protestant Northern Irish man, living in a "loyalist area" I have to apologise, I'm no Linfield fan or fan of our league as it's sectarian mess. Just wanted to say the majority of Northern Irish folk are not like this, were actually nice :D.

HAve to say that's not really fair, a loyalist doesn't mean your a sectarian. In my eyes it simply means, in Northern Irish terms, you want to stay part on the union, it's pretty much a different word for Unionist except the media has put an evil spin on it.
