Like we get articles every day about Messi not being happy with club's decisions, having his say on transfers and all that. Whether they are just planted rumours or truth depends on our willingness to accept.
So basically Messi is portrayed as the most powerful player in the world, since he is basically having a huge say on how the things should go on.

Have there been someone from the history or currently who had such equal power or similar to that?

    Di Stefano maybe?

Most of those Messi/Ronaldo dictator articles that you read are usually BS from Don Balon.

Having said that, Messi is probably the most powerful player of recent times considering that Ronaldo has never been nearly as powerful as SAF or Perez at either club. Messi has dictated his position, the manager (Tata Martino), and even gotten the club to bail him out of this latest tax case. Neymar probably thought he was going to get similar power at PSG, but certainly doesn't seem like it's happening.
