3 points. That's all. Happy for Fred to see him improving his form. If we finish in top 4 this season, it would be unbelievable and Ole deserves a knighthood.

    Massive summer ahead.

People who compare this to Jose are being unfair. We attacked a lot in this game but we were just rubbish up front. And the gaps we left by attacking in force allowed West Ham to do their thing. The exact opposite of a Jose team.

Arguably we were at our best when we had Jose's tactical discipline and Ole's attacking philosophy combined in the honeymoon period. We need both to prosper. This is probably too simplistic, but you get the idea.

It was yet another wretched performance. I don't even know where to start with the ills of this club anymore. We don't look fit enough, we are technically deficient, we play in an awful style. Can't wait for the season to end.

It would be easy to write this off as a dire performance on a par with the Sacked One. But, how many prem games have been dreadful when we’re looking for a top performance in the CL? This has been a common outcome over decades and not something to get overwhelmed by. I predicted 2-1 in an ugly win and it was. We played without gusto or guile against a team that has a couple of decent players. We certainly miss a player like Chico, his finesse made Lukaku look clumsy. Pogba sensed the gravity of the situation and scored without the stuttering run up. Mata was a bit lively while Jesse was underwhelming. Rojo made a few poor plays but came up with a half decent shot. I think we can still stagger into 4th spot but it’s going to be very painful watching from here on.

We have to play Everton away and then also Chelsea and City at OT where we are invariably poor. I don't think we will be anywhere near top four come the end of the season.

Can't blame Greenwood for that though. Players just weren't giving him the ball.

Jose's winning/drawing rate was quite decent. It was only this season when things fell apart for well documented reasons.

I belong to the group that insists our main problem has not been our managers. We have to scratch deeper.

Missed the game yesterday due to picking my daughter up from uni. Was it really as bad as folk are saying in here or just normal overreaction? Were there any positives apart from the 3pts?

Frankly, those three points we took are like pure gold. I'll take them right now and every other game till the season ends. What is important now is to make top four. We can work on beautiful football next season.

Can’t wait for the end of the season as I can’t watch this crap anymore , if anyone wants my remaining tickets for OT pm me. We were lucky yesterday and at this rate 6th is our natural position

We had a lot of players out. Injuries, suspensions and resting. These big European games are a pain in the arse. The players just focus on them to the detriment of other games. I'm not bothered about the champions league or finishing top 4,as if fourth place is good enough. I'd rather play the kids and start something fresh.

    Yet we won it.

    That's the good news.

I remember two seasons ago. There were so many games in which we battered some opponents and yet kept drawing until we ended up sixth.

Football can be a bitch at times. Right now, I will take those three points with joy. I hope we make top four and fix our football next season.

    Agreed
Ole has a huge job to do , Iam not sure he will get the backing he needs to do it . Good luck to him
What we learned from yesterday .
1,We really have to stop wrecking Anthony Martial weekends by asking him to play . Midweek around 2pm might suit better .
2, We will never win a league title with Pogba Martial and Lingard in the squad
3,We will have to pay a chunk of our 200 m budget to some club get rid of Rojo
4,Mata needs to find a new league , one more suited to his pace or lack of
5,We need to stop messing about and pay DeGea what he wants

Performance did not deserve the win, but then again we lost against Wolves and Arsenal when the performance did deserve a win. These things happen. From now till the end of the season, the results are the most important.

We don’t deserve to be top 4. We’ve been dreadful most of the season and will finish where we belong.

Turgid and dull, with odd tactical decisions.

The season end can’t come soon enough really.

I think it was as bad as people are saying.

They had a goal wrongly called offside, smashed the bar, De Gea made a wonder save. For most of the 2nd half especially they controlled the game, they had like 58% possession at one point

On the other hand we created very, very little. Two penalties and a good rashford shot from a tight angle was all their keeper had to do.

The passing in particular, was just appalling.

I defend Lingard a lot but he’s been awful lately, like the majority of the team. It’s as if the season ended weeks ago.

What did Napoleon say "I'd rather have lucky Generals than good Generals", well we had lucky players yesterday rather than good ones. Lingard and Mata were atrocious.

Pogba played for around 55 minutes, Smalling and Jones made a reasonable CB pairing, Rojo may be a half decent Left side CB, but he has no idea at left back (yes I know he plays for Argentina in that position). We had three half decent chances and two were created/fell to Rashford. Fred looked a lot more involved and productive, but he is still vulnerable to a strong challenge on the turn, twice lost the ball in dangerous positions. De-gea (and cross bar) to the rescue again.

It was 'walking football' from us at times..."Hey Ole I can do that, bring my boots shall I next week"?
We've seen the nice Ole, lets now see a bit of the nasty Ole.

Oh and keep Woodward away from transfers, his agreed salary to capture Sanchez (as a shirt salesman rather than a player) as clearly upset the dressing.

I think the style of play wanted by Ole requires a high level of fitness and stamina.
Many of United's players are covering more miles in a match since Ole took over.
Without prepration, you can do that a while before tiredness takes over.

The squad he inherited are not fit enough to sustain that level over a longer period of time.
Add to that some players are not good enough, given new recruits and a preseason of training
to get players to the required fitness, we will see a difference.

Stamina and Endurance require completely different types of preparation and takes time to build up.
Same reason you see excellent 10km and Half Marathon runners, fade and fail in the Marathon Distance.

Looking forward to Oles team next season, some new faces, prepared for and playing a style that we will enjoy.

Were we playing football? We were so isolated, players seemed really really below average, unbelievably terrible performance, real sad to see how these cnuts perform like they never train together.

Ole needs to know that Lingard is absolutely trash, and not because he is United product and bla bla bla makes him start, one of the worst at this squad.

After yesterday I absolutely lost hope to be in top 4 this year, unless Chelsea and Arsenal lose 2 3 games of the remaining weeks which not logic because they play much much better than us right now.

After watching this game it seemed we really need a massive massive overhaul, we have so many Non-man.Unted players.

In my opinion his lack of effort, mentality, drive etc makes him average. You can't have one without the other.

Shite but 3 points. Drove 2 hours back home after that and struggled to find incentive to write something on this forum. Still struggling. Woke up full of cold, throat on fire, ear infection and runny nose. Hope the players feel worse after that drivel yesterday. If the players want to know how to run; I could post a vid of my nose if that helps.

We didn't play well but won... But recently we have played much better and lost, so we deserved a bit of luck, and people are being a bit OTT with it all.

I mean we didn't have Shaw or Rashford starting... Two of our best players this season.

Martial and Mata were poor but both smartly won penalties that won us the game (yet you'll still read on here they "did nothing"). Fred, Jones and Smalling continued to be decent and Pogs was a bit better then he has been of late... So yeah, it's hardly all doom and gloom.

What is "all" though? The fact we are most likely going to miss out on top 4? Mourinho. It's his fault we had 26 from 17. The players arent good enough to win the title, nobody is under any illusion there. But they were miles better then what we showed under Mourinho, as we've showed since Ole took over both in performances and results. We havent been playing like title winners but weve pretty much on the whole been playing like a top 4 team which is our level. There really isnt any need to be dramatic. No player can keep up a ridiculously high level of consistency other than Ronaldo and Messi. United went on a long unbeaten and winning run under Ole. Now we hit a rough patch in form to even things out a little (especially considering the fixtures). Was always going to happen.

Apart from anything else, maybe at least the recent performances will have underlined to OGS how much work he actually has on his hands in terms of a rebuild and which players just aren't good enough for United or should simply be squad players.
The honeymoon period is over, but it should hopefully be a good thing as it brings into sharp focus how far United have to go to be challenging for the Title.
Bottom line at the moment though, it is "squeaky bum" time of the season and it's all about results rather than performances, top 4 is the goal at the moment and I don't think it matters how it is achieved, it's all about simply getting over the line, then the summer will see the rebuild of the squad start to take shape.

Cheers mate, i did think it would be a bit of overreaction mixed in with frustration of our home performances when i started reading the thread tbf. I personally think that results are more important than the performances at this time, hopefully then have a good transfer window and a full pre season and kick on next season. Top 4 has to be the target irrespective of performances. I'd snatch your hand off for 5 1-0 wins to finish the league season.

I feel the team are emphasising “getting the ball forward ASAP” a little too much. Ole wants us to go for the throat but sometimes you have to apply an element of control on matches too.

When games get stretched like that it generally favours the attackers, but ours just aren’t firing right now. I think we need to go back to a more patient style of passing until we can sign players that can take advantage of the space.

The fact is we were VERY lucky yesterday.

In the minutes before the second penalty, West Ham hit the woodwork, and De Gea made a decent save to actually keep us in it. Had they scored either of those goals, it would have been a different outcome.

We were bad, very bad. At half time when I went down for a bottle and a hot dog, the atmosphere was just like that of Mourinho's reign towards the end.

West Ham deserved a point at least. I would go as far to say that they were the better team yesterday.

At the moment, we are just a very average side, and unless we seriously invest at the end of the season, I can see it being more of the same next season.

2/3 of the squad have been unfit for the last two months, so it’s weird to me that we’re seeing so many people this dejected. We’re in with a shout to move on in the CL, and could quite possible still snatch top 4.

Yes, we do need the massive overhaul it looks like we’re going to get this summer, but I think there’s a solid foundation to build on. I think even if they do leave eventually, we hold onto De Gea and Pogba this summer. Give the boys the summer to get healthy and rested, and the new lads who come in a proper preseason to gel with the squad and I think we’ll be in good shape.
