Be interesting to see if Smalling walks straight back into the team or not. Dont think he deserves to personally

Neither do I. Rojo might have you watching from behind your hands sometimes, but him and Jones have built a good understanding.

Nah, I'd rather keep Jones - Rojo to be honest. But it's good to have another experienced CB at the bench when Bailly is out.

If only he could cut out that ridiculous 2 footer.

Its incredible how stupid he is to have done it twice in 2 weeks.

Other than that he has been fantastic.

Don't think he will. Even Bailly wasn't put straight back into the team as a CB and he was better than Smalling prior to their injuries.

Smalling like bailly might end up playing right back for now. He will add height to our backline as we will need that against west brom.

Yup, that combined with stuff like the passport incident makes it clear he's a daft fecker  But credit to him, I really enjoy watching him play these days!

The criticism of Smalling is all centered on his performance against Chelsea in which I believe he was injured all game.

It was a very poor decision by Jose to play him as he did not trust Rojo who has proven him wrong since.

Smallings mobility was clearly severely impacted in the match and that performance has led to people forgetting his many excellent displays particularly last season.

He is still an excellent option at CB.

I hope not. If memory serves, the last time he played right back on a regular basis was in 13/14 and was pretty abysmal at it. Valencia please.

Don't know why Valencia wouldn't play RB, been one of our best players this season. Strong as feck, can handle himself decently in the air, too.

He will play RB. I think some have got it in their heads that he is injured not just suspended for one game.

    Ibrahimovic needs a rest
He shouldn’t have started some of the Europa League games.

Mourinho says Ibrahimovic is almost undroppable. "He is doing phenomenal. Tomorrow he is going to play again, then one week to rest."

Mourinho feared Bailly would need surgery
“I don’t know. No surgery, we thought maybe meniscus by the movement on the pitch but it’s a question to see the evolution and hopefully we have him for the last two matches.”

    CHANCE TO MAKE UP GROUND?
Jose was asked at the press conference if he sees the busy Christmas period as an opportunity to close the gap to the top four. He replied: "Half-way through the race is not until 31 December, but I would say for the first half of the race it would be almost impossible to be in the top four. But, one thing is to be 15 points from the top four, another is to be five points from the top four."

 Your reporting on the facts really doesn't convey the impression of Jose turning up, to a press conference, dressed as an elf and dishing out presents to all the journos. Much is the pity ;)

    TARGET FOR YULETIDE
The manager continued on the topic of accumulating points against West Brom, Sunderland and Middlesbrough: "What we have to try to do in these three remaining matches [in December] is be in a position that gives us a chance in the second part of the season," he said. "We are playing really well; if we can transform performances into results, we have a chance."

As well as repeating the line he gave to MUTV earlier about Bailly being unavailable and Smalling making his return, the United manager told the assembled journalists that "Shaw and Mkhitaryan are still out."

I'm a big fan of Smalling, and I still think he's our best pure defender. But I agree. If Rojo and Jones continue to perform, then there's no need to change that. If it ain't broke, and all that. He may need to wait for a dip in form or fatigue/injury. Even Bailly hasn't walked back in, and he was excellent up until his injury. I think Mourinho is very happy with the current pairing.
