Mou already confirmed that Jones, Pogba and Smalling are injured while Ibra and Herrera are still suspended.

Hope he gives indication on Fellaini and the South Americans (Rojo and Valencia)

Pogba and Herrera out is a big cause for concern. Our midfield is going to be in a right mess.

    Mourinho on injuries and suspensions
“They’re not important, the important ones are the ones that are ready to play, that’s the way we have to think.

“We cannot be here crying or thinking about the players who are not available to play. You know Zlatan and Herrera are suspended, even though Herrera’s two match ban for that episode against Chelsea, and he has a two match ban.

“You know what happened in the English national team with Smalling and Jones, we know that we have also Pogba injured.

“But I repeat they’re not important, the important ones are the players that are ready to play, I trust and are going to fight for us.”

1/2 More Jose on Basti "What I knew about him was a season full of injuries, having treatment outside club. I thought mentality wasn't right

2/2 Jose: "The way he was behaving and respecting my decisions as a manager. It is no problem for me to admit I regret it".

    JOSE ON NEXT SEASON

Yeah well, why did Van Gaal do worse in his second season then? Got any insight there José?

Maybe I'm being stupid, but I'm struggling to grasp what Mou regrets regarding Basi? Is it just not playing him more?

Sound like it's about keeping here too long, to me. "Now" = letting him go, is the right thing.

LVG never knows his players to begin with?

Looks like it'll be Bailly and Rojo at the back. Our best two defenders imo.

But that doesn't make sense with "Last thing I told him, I was not right with you once, now I have to b right to you" (after letting him go)

Jones & Smalling long term injuries. Feck international football

Because he's not who he think he was, unprofessional footballer (injured but keep being outside of the club).

He froze him out without even giving him training sessions to prove himself, he had preconceived impressions of Bastian and made his mind up before meeting him. He regrets that treatment.

I hope by "long-term" here Jose means 3-4 weeks at max. With Jones and Smalling though it can easily be 3-4 months.

Those Schweinsteiger statements don't convince me at all. Two wrongs don't make a right. We'll miss him in the run of games.

I can answer that one. Van Gaal lost the huge advantage of not having any mid-week European football.

Yeah, my thoughts entirely, and with the heavy schedule coming up, you have to see this as a huge blow. We're just one injury away from our annual defensive crisis now.

Jose tried to move him on last summer but Basti didn't go. Then they removed his locker and had him training with the reserves.

I would assume he regrets his treatment of Basti rather than the lack of minutes,
