Of that 7,500 I'd guess 90% of we're Rangers fans. But no, it won't make a big difference to the league. Having one team dominate instead of two is great for them.

I'm thinking you'll take less enjoyment from easily winning the league every year and losing your major rival. If you think otherwise you're a fool who doesn't understand what football is about.

A quick summary of events thus far:

Spring 2011 – Craig Whyte appears from nowhere. Unknown to the masses and is declared by the Scottish media as a billionaire who is going to save Rangers. A quick google search by Celtic bloggers shows that he’s a charlatan and an asset stripper. Bloggers brand the takeover as the “Fakeover”. This goes unreported.
Summer 2011 – Craig Whyte buys Rangers for a a quid. He is downgraded from billionaire to millionaire in most reports.
Transfer window 2011 – The transfer war chest does not materialise. Celtic fans online are already writing blogs that the guy is a conman. This is ignored. General media perception downgrades Whyte from millionaire to successful businessman in most reports.
Darkest winter 2011/2012 – Rangers darkest hour.
    • The BBC finally reveal Whyte as the figure that Celtic fans have been saying he was for months. BBC are banned from Ibrox and Whyte threatens legal action.
    • It is revealed Whyte mortgaged off four years worth of season ticket money to facilitate his take over
    • It is revealed Whyte has been deducting PAYE and NI from employees and not giving it to the tax man… naughty boy… He’s also not being paying VAT… Current bill £9m to 15m.
    • Whyte is downgraded from successful business man to crook in the eyes of the media. Upgraded from crook to The Greatest Ever Fenian in the eyes of Celtic fans.

As I write the stock exchange, Strathclyde Police and the SFA are all investigating Rangers.

It would appear they are only weeks from liquidation.

How much responsibilty does Murray carry in all this ???

I know someone who bought a Rangers shirt on offer at Tesco yesterday, when they got to the check-out, they were deducted 10 points off their club card !

THere is feck all money in the SPL with Rangers, so there will be feck all money in the SPL without rangers. Since the 90s rediculous boom of spending a lot of clubs have really calmed down in scotland, they are doing a lot of thigns to minimize debt and run a safe club knowing full well what can happen. The lose of Satanta was deemed a massive blow to the welfare of scottish football too.

No club is bigger than a league, the SPL would not be fecked without Rangers. Would it be worse? in my ideal world both Rangers and Celtic would be in this situation and both would go bust and die. This is the honest feeling of any non old-firm supporting scottish football fan. The money, the TV etc doesnt really matter to us, we know the standard will never be near the EPL etc but that's not exactly what football is all about.

why would you guess that? Dunfermline average around 5000 a game. So maybe 25% would have been rangers fans...

Scottish football has poor attendances. considering the population it's not exactly difficult to see why. Also take into account the SPL demanding that clubs have at least a 10000 all seater stadium when most clubs average around 5 or 6 thousand a game...

I would guess that because the majority of SPL games involving either of the Old Firm are dominated by their support. The 90% is exaggerated I give you but it would be more than 25%.

I just checked their attendances before and after the Rangers game. 2,300 & 2,800. That would probably make Rangers support at least 70%.

He does hold a lot of responsibility in all of this. He spent decades spending money that the club never really had, before managing to find a way out of the club at the most convenient time. He's not the only one at fault, however he should be receiving more blame than he is at the moment.

Redundancies expected among the playing staff on Monday lol!

What a time to be a Celtic fan. The last 18 months under Lennon have been sensational... Celtic Park has went from a rather dull place to go to without question the best atmosphere in British football...

Over on some Rangers forums, some fans seem convinced that if they go bust and return as a phoenix club, they will have a good chance of getting into the English pyramid...

So what's the reason for Rangers going into admin and possibly liquidation? Is this something we know or something we're trying to find out?

Their previous owner spent money that the club never really had for decades. It's come back to bite them now. Whyte came in, claimed to be a billionaire, lied, lied about a load of other things, and here they are now.

No doubt about it. Knocked out of the Scottish Cup by second-tier Ross County, then out at the first hurdle in Europe against the mighty Braga - and pumped by Utrecht - then losing out in the Scottish League Cup final, then second best in the league. Sensational times for Celtic fans indeed.

Someone said an ITK has been saying that pre administration news. Can't be bothered to look it up.

The stupid thing is, a phoenix club could be set up right now into the English pyramid. If they don't want the SPL place and membership (whatever its actually called), then they could do it right now. It wouldn't surprise me if 2 phoenix clubs get created.

Haven't been keeping up with Rangers in the news, so apologies if that has been mentioned, but I found this hilariously sad:

Rangers' Ally McCoist angry that historic shares in Arsenal were sold
    • 1910 link with Arsenal broken by Craig Whyte selling shares
    • 'It's particularly sore for a Rangers supporter,' says McCoist

Hey.... Calm down buddy... First off... Ross County was more than 18 months ago.

This season and last season have been great times to be a Celtic fan. Led by a sensational young manager who's building a great young team.

We are under no illusions that mistakes were always going to be made along the way however the thunder is back and the Rangers are dead!

    Happy days!

I could see them getting into lower English divisions through this and climbing up. Which will kill the Scottish league once and for all.

Sensational young manager is taking it too fair in all honesty. Lennon has started to prove himself this season and his tactics have massively improved, however there's no doubt that there have been times where Celtic's tactics have been questionable to say the least. His best attribute as a manager is his passion for the job and ability to motivate his players.

He's a legend. We've now got 17 league wins in a row. A team full of international players who are all under 25 and been put together on a small budget.

The guy is a leader of men and has united the Celtic family like they've seldom been before.

    A glorious era awaits!

17 league wins in a row in brilliant, and I'm not trying to take anything away from it, but any decent manager worth their salt would've been able to walk the league title with Celtic this year.

That's maybe true but to do it in the spirit he has with a team who's average age is only 23/24 is a great achievement - especially as he's not spent much money.

The way he's galvanised a club and got the atmosphere at the stadium sensation even against the likes of St Mirren and Dunfermline is a testament to the job he's done.

I agree to a certain extent, and he has really improved as a manager this season, but you're still overstating the job he has done. He can't be seen as a 'sensational' manager until he manages a club outside of the Old Firm, unless he can lead Celtic to European glory, which clearly won't happen.

"Sensational" in the context of Celtic. Obviously would have tonnes to prove before being considered in that regard by your average fan of European football.

Listen, I'm not denying that Lennon has done a good job at Celtic and has assembled a good team with the resources he's been given. What I am saying is that he can't be seen as a top manager until he does well outside of an Old Firm club.

In all seriousness you can see by our league form we started the season poorly. A better reflection of where Celtic are as a team is that we were clearly better than Rennes over two games, gave Udinese as good as they got and were just a little bit lacking when faced with Athletico Madrid.
