What are some previous records, that were completely obliterated by the next holder rather than a small incremental improvement?

    Manchester United All-Time Appearances
Ryan Giggs (963 apps) improved it by 205 appearances after taking it from Charlton (758 apps)

La Liga All Time Top Scorer
Lionel Messi (372 goals) improved it by 121 goals, and is still going after taking it from Zarra (251).

It doesn't have to be current record holders, just the biggest jumps in fairly recent times.

Ronaldo, Real’s all time leading goal scorer. 100+ ahead of Raul and still going.

Same for Messi, ahead by more than 300 goals.

Ronaldo taking over Raul’s record of the most CL goals.

He has over 30 more goals over the previous record now.

Aaron Ramsey set a record for most times a golf ball was kept up by hitting it with the club on A League of their Own. The record was 15, he got 61.

I mean...he's a footballer, so it counts, right?

There was a stay for Ronaldo a few years ago. Something like he could go oveo 250 games without scoring for Real and still have a better goals/game ratio than Raul.

For many in the forum, this maybe before their time, but every record of the ''Anfield Rap'' should've been smashed.

Fergie's record of thirteen English league titles is an obvious one - more than twice as many as previous record co-holders, Bob Pailsey and George Ramsay.

And Rogério Ceni's 131 goals from set pieces and open play at the end of his career - close to twice as many as the previous record holder for goalkeepers, José Chilavert.
