Why is this guy even rated so high? Looks dreadfully average.

I'm not even a massive fan of Fellaini but he's a far superior player to Sanches, who's simply all hype with little substance.

Ok, fair enough. I just think for the money they are asking we could do a fair bit better than Renato - I suppose our rating of the player is where we differ.

No. You misunderstood. I was saying rather that we have room to add a Renato who is arguably more of a known quantity at the highest level than Pereira, who we universally agree is needed in our squad.

So shall we not sign any young talent and just pay over the odds when they develop into good players and hope to win the league with Fellaini running our midfield?

Fellaini may be more established currently, but Sanches has far more potential and will undoubtedly become a much better player.

My opinion is we should be getting these players when they are young, before we end up paying 100mil for them in 2 years

No this is doubted, there are other talents to look at like Weigl, Diawara, Dendonker etc

Indeed. Personally I'd like us to target Barkley

I wouldn't give a toss if Fellaini left. I don't rate Sanhes whatsoever though.

We have one of those players already, his name is Anders Pereira. Clearly better than Sanchez, can cover more positions and is already on our books.

    Seriously?

It's the business end of the season, Herrera is injured, Carrick played on Wednesday and we're playing Everton away, our options are Fellani or Sanches. Who do you rather start?

I know Fellani gets a hard time on here, unfairly at that but come on...

I agree, Pereira looks a talent and should be given game time.

Very rare you can snap up young talent such as Sanches for such a low price, I understand we have Pogba/Herrera/Carrick/Fellaini/Pereira. I'd still sign a DM and Sanches if given the chance. Carrick has 1 year left, Fellaini isn't really good enough for what we want to achieve, Pereira will hopefully come good but we could do with some quality squad depth

Not sure if you think I said Sanches is better..because I didn't. Felliani > Sanches and from what I have seen, it isn't close.

Don't think going to Utd would improve his situation at all. He has huge issues settling in at our club and country, and we are actually known for being very supportive to newcomers. Being on the shy side of personalities doesn't help him either.
His move just came way too early. Basically, he's a kid who played 6 months of professional football, and enjoyed more success than beneficial for his own good during that short period.
The best for him would really be to go back to Portugal for at least another 2 years, ripen a bit more, and then see what progress he's made. The problem of course is, that his contract situation renders him unaffordable for any Portugese club interested in a purchase.

No, I heard you. I just don't think Fellani can be trusted in the games were you need players to make the right decisions. He gave away a penalty after being on the pitch for 5 minutes and got a red card for slapping/head butting people last season in the derby. I'd literally rather have anyone else play in that situation than Fellani, and if that person is Sanches then we're probably better off for it. You can't say that you don't almost shit yourself when you see Fellani coming on for the last 5 minutes, you just know something will go wrong.

He's a completely different player to Anderson.

But Ando was so loveable. I'd take another Ando for sure. Great squad player, never complained, did a job whenever he played. Didn't set the world alight but did show some glimpses of brilliance, albeit very few and far between glimpses.

completely and utterly bonkers and ridiculous. fellaini has performed immeasurably better than sanches over the last two seasons.

Box to box midfielder whose game relies on strength and pace - granted, Sanches is a better passer. Brought in from Portugal, too, as a wonderkid only to flop at a big club. Yep, completely different.

 Second quote basically describes Fellaini.

Amazing to be that inconsistent within minutes.

So basically Ando was lovable and Feli isn't? So ones a great squad option and the other is a liability.

He is either very talented and had a hard time adapting to German football, or one (3/4) season wonder. I`m not certain which one it is but what I`m certain of is that I would like to see Pereira get his chance at United.

I didn't say he hadn't performed better over the last two years, I said you cannot trust Fellani when you really need things to work out. He will make a mistake that will cost you points.

Yeah exactly, Ando was loveable, he wasn't a liability in the games where he had to keep his head. I'm not saying Fellani isn't a decent squad player, I'm saying that he cannot be trusted. He alone cost us points last season for nothing short of stupidity. I'm not saying we should sell him or we would be better without, I'm saying we should have more depth in midfield to protect Fellani from having to play these games where you know he's going to feck up.

You pick out two mistakes but conveniently ignore that on the most important game of our season he was needed to step up and perform, the Europa League final, he delivered a motm perfomance.

And what has Sanches done to gain your trust? Is he impervious to mistakes despite not being very good at football for the past year?

Aside from a penalty and a good performance against Arsenal Ando was nothing but a dissapointment. Lack of work ethic spoiled all his talent and he was paid hugely over the odds compared to what he delivered.

He just had the benefit of playing for us under Sir Alex and with arguably our best ever squad.

To use him as an example to beat Feli with is just silly. As someone else has pointed out, you pick out one or two games, Herrera, Pogba and Ibra all cost us games last year with sending offs, handballs, missed chances, is Ando more solid than them?

    It's very lazy.

We were playing against a young inexperienced Ajax side who allowed themselves to be bullied by him, of course he had a good game and I'm glad he did. He gets too much unfair criticism and it was nice to see him get a goal in the final but like I said, due to his previous errors, if we would have had another fit midfielder, you can guarantee he wouldn't have played in that match. Jose has sold players for less before now.

He hasn't, I simply said that at the price he's being quoted, it could be a good business if he does develop into the player he looked like he would a couple of years ago. He also doesn't look like he's going to do something stupid 'any minute now' when he plays under pressure. As I said previously, we don't have to set Fellani up for failure by playing in these games and bringing him on to protect a lead, he's not capable of doing that job and he makes everyone nervous, including the players.

Think you're being unfair on Ando here. He was solid for us and had a great attitude, I also seem to remember him having one very good season (can't remember which one exactly) where it looked like our midfield woes were going to be answered. Maybe comparing Ando and Fellani isn't fair but I never did that, someone else took two separate quotes and accused me of double standards. Ando was an overweight Instagram addict but I bet Fergie hasn't got a bad word to say about him.

I highlighted two occasions last season where Fellani cost us points, and you're right, other players have done also but you never expect it from them but you do from him. No one has yet been able to disagree with me when I said that he makes you nervous when he comes in the dying minutes or is closing down an opposition player who's running at our goal, and if you think that you're nervous sat at home or in the stands, how do you think the players on the pitch feel? It also encourages the other team to come at you because you know he''s got a mistake in him. So I'll go back to my point, why not sign someone else who can do that job and protect Fellani from getting himself into these situations?

The idea that he's more of a known quantity at the highest level is a strange one. They've played around the same number of senior club games and most of Pereira's have been in a stronger league. He's played a few games for Portugal also but I'm not sure he's that much more of a known or proven quantity at all

For 20-something million he could be a steal. Right now we play with 2 or 3 central midfielders. We have Pogba, Herrera, Fellaini, Carrick and Periera to cover these roles. 5 is plenty of we play with 2 in the middle, if we play we 3 we need about 6. We are looking for someone to replace Carrick, we should consider someone to replace Fellaini (I doubt we sign him on a new contract). This guy could be that person. How often do you find young talent available at these sorts of prices?

Some reports have suggested that he might be sold for less than what they paid, in todays market getting a talented young player of this ilk for anything around £30m could be a steal!

Would take him as another option in midfield, which hopefully means less fellaini and another young and promising player.

There's next to no chance Bayern will sell him at a loss. The club has not given up on him despite a poor first season. Only if someone offers a deal north of what the club paid for Renato a transfer may become reality.
