Very short interview but this quote stuck. out.

"I got the ball and passed to Gary [Neville], who was on my team," said Ferdinand. "In a normal game that was a great ball - pass to your teammate, go up the pitch.

"And then Keane turned round and just started going: 'Pass it forward, take risks, you're not at Leeds or West Ham now, you're at Manchester United!'

    Passing forward is apparently crazy.

LVG really did a number on this club.

Pass it forward is not crazy, yelling at your team mates for no apparent reason is. I guess the next thing Keane would have said to Rio, break his leg, doesn't matter he is in red shirt or blue, just break his leg. Let him know who is boss.

A lot of our players don’t seem to have the confidence to make a mistake.

Rojo, Sanchez and Martial and that’s about it

Great advice for Rio, one of the best defenders at playing out from defence and passing forward we've had, if not the best.

Keane probably had several rows a day with the female voice in the lift who'd tell you what floor you're on.

You know, this is pretty much correct. Carrick too would always try to pass forward, even if it didn’t come off the first 5 times.

We should really hire Keane as chief executive screamer. Whenever someone plays a sideways/backwards pass in training they get a dose of it.

I encountered Roy Keane in a Wine bar in Hale years ago, he was still playing then. There’s something about his eyes that sent a shiver down my spine. I’m 6’2” and was fit then but I wouldn’t have argued with him. Scary man.

 A job at the Sun or what has become of the Indie surely beckons for the OP.

Keane was well within his rights to roast a younger player if he felt it was necessary and would be beneficial. Even if the point is obviously exaggerated it was important at the time (:() to instil an attacking mentality in every United player.

I’d wager McGrath was just as comfortable in possession as Rio. Was also a decent midfielder unlike Rio...

Roy Keane once tried to throttle the reading assistant manager with his own tie after a Sunderland match. That's scary.

I wouldn't claim to know Roy Keane, but I have met him on a number of occasions. He's a really nice guy.

The story isn't very accurate as Rio cost Leeds £18 million not United.

I saw Roy Keane in Tescos a few years ago. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the till was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

This was a better post than OP

I used to work at a betting company that operated in various football grounds across London. I once spent 30 minutes preparing myself and trying to gather the courage to approach Roy. Finally mustered up the courage, headed over there and it was some random bloke who resembelled Roy. Needless to say I was very disappointed.
