I generally like him, as he's grown on me a lot in the past year or so, but he's having a shocking game today on 5live.

He's still very bitter about us dumping him, anytime a 50/50 goes our way he's up in arms, screaming about how its one of the worse things ever. Defines the phrase ABU.

As a person he seems alright and he's quite good at dancing, but his punditry is absolutely terrible imo. The kind of pundit who will be saying a Gerrard and Lampard midfield will win the Euros for England. And he looks like his wife.

Dunno about that. I heard him interviewed not so long ago where he said he's still a united fan.

Did he say he was a fan? I remember because I was listing to 606 a while back (yeah.. dont anymore) when he was still at Derby.. It was after a good weekend and the rival fan called him a rag, to which he replied he never supported United, he was a Liverpool fan growing up.

    This.

I kind of get the feeling that he wants to say the banal popular opinion to appeal to the audience. He even seems takes an incredulous tone in his delivery of the said banal statement for effect.

He's a Liverpool fan. Having said that he often says that he wasn't good enough for United.

He talks some absolute fecking shit. That said, you have to credit that he will always say what he thinks.

Also, fair play to him the other day. When we were 3rd back at the start of the season a Newcastle cab driver told him we'd finish top four and he laughed - promising he'd buy him a brand new cab if we did. The cab driver rang up his show last week to remind him and he said he'll remain true to his word.

What do you mean "no he doesnt", yes he does, I've heard and seen it before.
Blackpool last season when Rafael went into whoever it was he went into, Mcmanaman(a freaking scouser) was there saying "could have been given". He was going ape shit mental "No that's a stone wall penalty".
He was at it again last week, he just seems to get very angry when whinging about decisions going our way.

I mean he is not "ABU" in any way, shape or form.

I am not proud of this, but I have read his autobiography. Have you?

He gets far too angry when we get dodgy decisions to not be a ABU. I hope he's on tonight so you can see for yourself. And no, I havent read his autobiography, I'm not a spastic.

I think he's like that with all teams but. He gets hysterical about everything. I dont think he's got any agenda, he's just passionate about football and calls it as he see's it.

Perhaps, I haven't noticed it with other teams but then I'm probably not paying much attention if it's any other team. But Blackpool last season, he was just too much of a bell-end.

Oh right so in order to establish whether one likes or dislikes United you must read their autobiography first?

Didn't invent anything, I've given examples, it's not my fault you saw neither. But I'll be sure to read his autobiography.

He's better at communicating than most ex pros, but doesn't bring anything insightful to the commentary booth, however anything is impressive next to Alan I'm a huge fecking tool Green.

He's a complete fecking moron. The only good bit was when he was on a phone-in and someone rang up to say he was a despicable piece of gamesmanship turd.

Robin van Persie on Robbie Savage:

“My kids go to the same school as Robbie Savage, a great lad,” he said.
“I once asked him why he was so harsh in his judgements. He told me it had to do with the competition in the media landscape, between television stations. He admitted to sometimes judging harder than is reasonable, but also that he has a mortgage to pay.”

Interesting perspective on life as a pundit. I personally dislike Savage in his BBC columns but don't mind him too much on his BT Saturday morning show, he doesn't take himself too seriously anyway by the looks of it. His BBC column has a history of being pretty harsh on United, but then he called our demise last year correctly at the start of the season so I can't really call him out on it.

Yes, it's interesting how it seems pundits are pressured by the broadcaster to conform to a certain image of themselves. Corporate strategy being a bad influence in yet another sphere, quelle surprise.

Don't mind him on that, and that he in general doesn't mind having the piss taken about his lack of talent, even making fun himself.

When the City womans team was in with their FA Cup, and he went for it with everyone shouting at him, "You know me, not used to being around trophies." Not bad, or laughing off Keane's talking about not signing him.

Can't say i particularly dislike him, i'm indifferent really. I don't think he's meant to be taken that seriously, and the same applies to his punditry in general.
