Sounds like typical drunken ramblings to me.
Been drinking again then.
Is he drunk?
Glad both left.
He's right, though. It would have got better. Just not good enough.
No surprise he liked Van Gaal. He could play week in week out no matter how shit he was.
I wish he'd never broken the goal record at United, can't stand him.
What a bellend.
Rooney is LVG's biggest mistake at United. Should have shown him the door and sign better players. Top 4 finish wouldn't have been a problem at all.
He's drinking Absinthe now.
What an idiot. Very selfish too, he quite obviously enjoyed all the luxury he had under van Gaal, and he was missing it with Mourinho. Can't wait for Mou's response.
He'll get flack for this but at the end of the day it boils down to personal preference, some players will believe in a manager's style of play/philosophy while others won't.
He's hardly going to sing Mourinho's praises having been edged out under him.
If we stuck with Van Gaal we would be in the Europa League again.
Is this website reliable? Seems dodgy.
Typical word twisting click bait controversy creating journalism. That was not his point.
He doesn't actually say that we "should have stuck with him" exactly. Just that it would hve gotten better if we stuck with Van Gaal, which I also agree with, but am much happier we have Mourinho.
Rooney was the last remnants of Moyes, glad they're both gone. I'm sure LVG would have gotten rid of him if he hadn't got that long contract and all the power within the club.
Keep your kneb out you drunken adulterer. Ooooooo! This bloke is really rattling my cage.
There's no evidence to suggest that would be the case. We were worse in Van Gaal's second season than we were in his first and I didn't see anything that Van Gaal was doing which would suggests he could have remedied that.
He's got a point. What's the next incremental level above utter pig shite?
"My captain shall always play"
They misquoted his last line it should read "“Jose came in and last season in the league I struggled and wasn’t consistent enough. Obviously in the cups the others did well.”"
Yeah we would have been fecking brilliant with Rooney and Schweinsteiger running round the place.
If he has said that then anyone who sticks up for him in this thread is a momentous bellend and a Rooney fan not a fan of this club.
I highly doubt things would have got much better for United if van Gaal wasn't sacked.
Now he's got rid of dead weight like you and things will get better.
There was no evidence it would have got better, from a supporters point of view.
It started as acceptable at best, as the bare minimum was achieved. It got significantly worse in the 2nd season. Just excruciating to watch, trophy or not.
It probably would have been better for Rooney, but not United. Unfortunately for Rooney, the next manager didn't treat him like royalty. Boo hoo.
Things got better with Mourinho. Last season had many frustrations, but IMO we were never hideously boring to watch, like in LVG's second year. The club made the right choice in both ridding club of LVG and subsequently securing one of the best managers in the game.
Is he actually saying what the subject claim? The quote is different. Seems his words got twisted. He claims that Man Utd would have improved under van Gaal. I guess that just lojalty towards a former manager.
He only had one year left on his contract anyway so it wouldn't have been worth it.
Did you expect him to come out and say "LVG should have been fired for his shambolic displays" Of course not. Media training makes these guys give out generic statements against fellow professionals.
Rooney misinterpreted Van Gaal's horny comment which is why he's in trouble with the law. Van Gaal's English could have killed someone!
With Wayne, systems and philosophies don't matter. He played the same, one way under both LvG and Jose - shite.
I concur with those who think he was probably drunk when he said this.
Fresh out his night in a cell, Rooney now claims he wouldn't have been drinking if LVG had still been manager.
That's true but boy, the contrast when talking about LVG and Mourinho .
feck, what did I just read
Separate names with a comma.
