Just a bit of ruthess banter from the fans. People are sensitive snowflakes these days.

It's in good humour, I remember Old Trafford giving a bit of light hearted stick to Beckham when he returned with Milan

I'm sure he knew it was tongue in cheek. United fans had gone through all the classic Rooney chants during the game too.

Come on man. You don't treat your club legend like that. If it was in good spirit ok , i can maybe understand but if not, it is just shameful. Again i don't know what is real situation here so i posted this

"You Scouse bastard" was it? I was dreading seeing something vile about his kids, that's pretty tame banter IMO.

I thought they clapped him when he was subbed? Surely just a little ribbing.

It was 100% in good spirit. And he would have gotten that as we sung his normal chants at times aswell.

Which was it, fat or scouse, either way, everyone else chants it so it’s only banter.

I’m trying to figure out who’d be so sensitive as to find this anything more than a bit of banter. Aside from the article writer who’s obviously just in it for the clicks.

Is that all it was ? You Scouse Bastard ?

I remember when Phil Neville was Everton's captain a few years ago. I couldn't help but laugh when the Liverpool fan's sang. Your captains a manc , your captains a maaaanc . You stupid bastards . Your captains a manc.

    Childish I know but funny.

    Obvious Scouse is obvious.

    Obvious fat is obvious.

If it was either of those, the article is quite astonishing lol.

It’s terrible when fans chant at him “You’re Just a Fat Granit Xaka” too, horrendous stuff.

People really can be weird these days.. Like they need to always be the first to say something when anything even remotely controversial happens. Live your lives, stop worrying about what others think. A tame chant about a multimillionaire who kicks a ball?! Shameful?! Come on now, stop this nonsense.

It's clearly a humor, not insulting or anything like that. Sarcasm seems too obvious for me and I think Wayne took it like that.

I know the fat granny shagger chant, but not the Granit Xhaka version. I would be more offended by the latter if I was Rooney.

Unless it’s the same chant and you’re just trying to avoid typing the rude version?

It was banter, they sang "Rooney, Rooney" then YSB, then the white Pele chant. They were very respectful, love the away fans.

It isn't that - it's media trying to gain clicks via absolute non-stories.

There are a lot of things in this world to care about, amongst them various cases of verbal abuse. However, this is not one of them.

It was all in fun. It is not they were making racist comments or personally attacking Rooney or his family.
