Apart from his poor display at Anfield he was been supberb since the turn of the year. The lesser teams can not get near now that he's playing with confidence and is lean and sharp again. Would be a huge loss if he doesn't sign a new contract.

I have a feeling Spurs are going to go in hard for him and Zaha this summer.

What little he had of the ball he used it very well i thought. Some nice turns and he released Lukaku like 3 times for a one and one vs the defender.

I like Barkley but I wasn't impressed with him against Liverpool or United.

Talented though. Can see why Koeman was frustrated with him earlier this season.

Really? I can't see that we have the spare cash for that right now. Zaha, maybe ... but both?

Saw him live at WHL and was very impressed. Looked like he'd taken a huge step forward in terms of decision-making.

The kind of money to buy him I think Poch and levy would rather spend on someone to upgrade the star than the squad

Spurs were able to spend £30mil on Sissoko last summer.

I can't see Barkley going for anymore than that given he has 1 year left on his contract.

Even with a new stadium to fund Spurs should still be able to spent around £60mil. They will probably get a few quid in from sales of fringe players. Last summer they got around £40mil for fringe players.

£60mil these days isn't all that much.

£30m odd to Spurs in the summer possibly as part of a swap deal for Sissoko if he's still welcome there?

Think he's probably going to sign a new contract though. He won't play a bigger role elsewhere.

Possibly trying to quell an idiot who'd already decided he was going to punch him. Or Ross said something inflammatory about Brexit.

I don't think the pressure on him at Everton is a good thing and he maybe wants to get away from it all. He's got the burden of being the local saviour and his judged very harshly because of it by the fans and pundits. Even now he's finding it hard to turn around the narrative set for him by certain fans and idiots like Redknapp despite his displays these past few months.

I don't rate Barkley highly at all, he just screams meh to me. Good on some days, average on more days.

That's a problem for both him and Lukaku. Neither of them can dribble the ball without their heads up and once they decide they are going to shoot, they can't spot a pass or more likely not willing to make the right pass.

That's true everywhere. The narrative takes a long time to change and the only thing people can do is to keep performing until it does.

The likes of Fletcher, for example, took years of performances to change the pervading opinion of them.

Bizarre how he creates so many chances then. The most assist in 2017 from open play.

That doesn't dispute the fact that his decision making is poor.

Yeah sure but he plays in a position which has the most abundance of talent in modern football.

I'd take him here if he won't sign a new contract.

    Rooney + £20m.

It isn't even poor though. Don't get me wrong it's not flawless and he fecks up some counter attack situations but usually he shows great vision and is proving to be one of the league's best playmakers.

Its like the way some people just think he shoots all the time when infact he is very hesitant infront of goal and lacks conviction in getting the shot off. That is my biggest criticism of him as a player not his genral play, creativity and playmakinng abilities because he is excelling in that area of his game currently.

He has stepped it up a level this season which is good to see, I'm still yet to be convinced if this is him progressing into a really good player or if it's just a run of good form.

It's likely more so a natural progression. He has always been a huge talent. Just that now is the first time he playing under a proper manager.

He was superb yesterday in that right inside forward role. Leicester could not live with him. Completely controlled the game.

That cross to Lukaku yesterday was something Beckham would be proud of , could be a bidding war for him in the summer

I believe you. I'm a massive fan of Barkley. Obviously I don't watch the same amount of Everton games as you, but normally when I do watch him he's a joy to watch.

People will talk about his decision making. Yes, it needs to improve, but he's still learning. We have the same with Pogba at the moment. Knowing when to run with the ball, when to pass, etc. That will come with time. He just needs to keep on progressing and he'll be one hell of a player, in my opinion.

I think both will only happen if Lamela gets sold, and that's a big if. The problem Lamela has is he needs a new contract so if he wants a raise I'd say he's been injured too often to really ask for one.

So I could see something like Sissoko, Lamela, Wimmer, etc. out with say Zaha, Barkley and a couple cheap young punts in. I think that would be a good summer for us.
