I'm convinced he will do well. I hope he picks Carrick as a starter in his preffered 4-2-3-1 system.
31 strikers? He always seemed slightly defensive to me
FA going to charge themselves with 'tapping up'?
The press are out to crucify him already. A journalist quesioned him about playing for a year in South Africa in the latter stages of his career when apartheid was at its peak.
Such irrelevance can only be intended to be devisive. In that is one of our major footballing problems at national level, the cuntishness of the media.
The media didn't get the man they wanted and that might make this doomed from the start. It would be pretty funny if we drove them crazy with the same "we can't really expect anything" type stuff he did as Liverpool manager.
I hate the press. They seem hellbent on ruining the chances of every England team/manager. At least the NOTW has gone now. They used to revel in revealing scandals on the eve of tournaments.
The hypocrisy of digging up dirt on a fuddy-duddy like Hodgson after spending months backing 'Arry to the hilt over his legal trouble...
Sky saying his first job (set himself) is to make Rio and Terry friends again so they'll play together in the Euros.
First job should be: boot Terry out of the squad forever
Just when you thought that the Sun couldn't stoop any lower.
What have they gone and done NOW?
Mocked his speech impediment on the front page.
Had a childish go at the way he speaks.
I normally enjoy watching England crash and burn but I hope Woy does well. To piss off the media, if nothing else.
I reckon he will, or at least treat him with the respect he deserves internationally.
How so? Looked like they mocked his appearance to me.
Looks more like a hedgehog to me.
Ah you bastards, that's the dryer you were joking about?
I hate you all.
Disgraceful. Bit like the title of this thwed... they really ought to say sowwy..
Hope he shoves it right up those media fecks.
Having The Sun turn on you is the best thing that can happen to anyone in football. Now the rest of the country has no choice but to get fully behind him.
It didn't work out that way for Taylor or Shteve. Still, we live in hope.
feel sorry for Woy, he keeps finding himself managing shit teams
If only that was true, sadly most of the country is stupid and read The Sun and believe everything written. If they don't get behind him he's got a battle to get the half wit England fans backing him too. That's the majority of our fans by the way.
For those not touched by the Hand of Woy, he is bog standard mediocre. He's not sh*t and neither is he great. A bit like the England football team.
Its a match made in pergatory.
I hope neither of you two are referring to our great Lord Hodgson as 'Woy'.
Or are we allowed to call him Woy but the papers aren't? God it's so hard to keep up with nowadays.
Liam, please don't make fun of my speech impediment.
Hoping to see Carrick in the team.
The way the majority of the press have reacted to this has been laughably childish. All just throwing their toys out of the pram because they didn't get their man (and he was their man, not "the nations" man... I know more people who didn't want Harry then did)... it's pathetic.
Hoping to see Carrick rested for next season.
Not really, it's just been renamed. I expect any scandals they have up their sleeves on England will be revealed in the traditional timeframe in there instead.
Disgraceful front page from that scummy rag.
If that's the case then I wish 'Arry got the job.
Whilst The Sun were by far the most crass it was also clear that both Daily Star and Mirror wanted to maintain a Redknapp based focus with their headlines too albeit more subtly.
However and i've not been his biggest fan in the past, the Mirror's Oliver Holt has written the following article at the expense of his colleagues in the press:
I thought his press conference was very good personally. I'm all for his kind of measured, intelligent rational approach rather than the kind of deluded aggressive shit they wanted him to spew all over Anfield.
I hope he's a success, mostly cos I want England to claw back some tiny modicum of pride & respect, but also because I think he's a good guy who deserves it.
