One of the most prolific strikers I've ever witnessed. Thank you Ruud. :)

He was so unfortunate to be a part of one of Fergie's worst teams. His performances and goals for us should have earned him many more medals.

Loved Ruud as much as everyone else, fantastic striker that near on carried the side for almost half a decade. But he isn't a legend.

It's a shame he won't get a chance in the CL next year, mad that he hasn't won it. Or ever really come that close.

Always loved him...even at the end. He deserved to be in a more successful team at united. Often carried us through games with his amazing goals. Would love to see someone like him again at Old Trafford

He was absolutely lethal. Rarely have I seen a striker, in my short history watching United, who was virtually guaranteed to score goals. He deserved more success in his time here but his contribution will never be forgotten.

    Thanks for the memories!

Fantastic player. Don't think I've seen such a lethal finisher. Him and Beckham were born to play together.

One of SAF's best signings since the turn of the century. He should get him on the coaching team.

He was amazing. Too bad he had a fall out with SAF would have loved him to be with us a few years longer.

    Goodbye Ruuuuuuud.

Brilliant player. He was so potent it was unbelievable. Even during a time where we weren't so dominant you could always feel like we could win an important game or score a crucial goal because of him. Thanks for the memories.

Ridiculous player. I actually hope he comes out of retirement although I trust his last season wasn't the best in terms of playing time.

Ridiculous player. Even the Arsenal fans grew to love him I think. Love to hate him anyway.

thats a bit wishy-washy considering one of his goals (i think against Fulham), he started and finished himself by running through the full defence from the half way line

Hate the way his time at United ended, but dont think i've ever seen a better finisher

The best striker I've seen in my time of supporting this club. I just wished none of that nonsense went on, and he could have stayed here his whole career and been a real legend for us.

Thanks Ruud, and all the best.

"It was a fantastic five years. It was crazy, all of the games that we played in the league, in the cups and in the Champions League. As a football player playing for United and at Old Trafford, it was something crazy and it felt like a dream at the time."

Congratulations on a great career Ruud and the way you carried yourself throughout, the way you bowed out is testimony to that. May there always be a seat available at Old Trafford for you to watch us play.
