    Nope, that's not true.

What's your excuse for Wenger this season then? He spent £90m in the Summer and this is shaping up to be your worst season for 20 years.

I don't understand why they would want to take that risk though. If you're sick of top 4 and want to actually start competing for the league and other trophies then get a manager with those credentials right? It's an almost certainty that he'll deliver to some extent with the budget available to him.

Of course, If Tuchel does work out then they have their manager sorted for another Wenger like stint, but it is a gamble.

The only club that could of afforded to make such gambles is us I would say. We had been out the champions league for so long the demand for instant success wasnt there, fans realised that we had to rebuild in order to get back to where we wanted to be and that would take time. So yeah, in that case you can take risks with younger different, energetic managers. You are more willing to give them the time. I don't think Arsenal are. Whoever comes in will need to make an instant impact.

You had 1 transition, Wenger had about 20 or 30. Bit different.

Which means he's spent 100m over 2 seasons, after the club been run into the ground for seasons, hardly ground shaking stuff is it.

That said it is a piss poor season. I won't stop supporting the clubs all time successful manager though. From my perspective he's earned certain rights even though I do think changes are needed.

Actually being out of the CL would be a good thing for next year. The CL handicaps the league.

Not really when you're out of it by the first week in March.

It is really not. It's ridiculous that just because someone was once good at their job they should feel entitled to run roughshod over the fans desires and put his own self interest first.

No one is bigger than the club and that's includes managers. This is just as bad as player power. Should someone like Cristiano Ronaldo be allowed to start up front for Madrid until he's 45 even after his legs are gone just because he once won them CLs.. No! And the same thing should apply for managers. If they're past their sell by date they need to go. He has been given so many years out of sentimentality and they have gone from one of the top sides in England with genuine title winning credentials to a weak spineless side for the past 10 years. It's a joke and money is not an excuse as he has stability on his side he can long term plan he has a lot of advantages that no other manager has at his disposal and what has he done with it..

Yeah it did, they were awful owners from 09 to 11 when we could have really cemented our dominance by spending proper money.

To be fair since they paid off the worst of the debt they've been decent owners, infinitely better than Kroenke

£90m isn't that much anymore. We spent that on one player last summer!

Yeah he spends money but his rivals spend consistently more and can go higher on wages.

He is doing fine. Arsenal aren't going to magically dominate Europe. All this precious moaning like they are some supreme champion elect only missing out just over the past seasons.

They're spending about 200m on wages for the year compared to 221m for United. That's not exactly a massive gap. Their wage structure is simply broken because they keep players around for far too long and extend their contracts even when it's clear they are no longer performing at the required level.

Of course, he is the only manager who gives him a chance. Why would he want him to go?

Pretty much this. Kronke has just spent billions on a farming investment. You have to ask 'where has he leveraged borrowing from' and 'why do Arsenal have 300m in the bank' gathering dust. For me question 2 answers question 1.

Outside of that though the Glazers would of hurt you more if you didn't have the biggest commercial value in world football. The Glazers have to protect that global brand, Arsenal arguably less so. We've been hurt more because we've built a massively expensive stadium.

Do you want Wenger to get a contract extension? If so, would be interesting to find out why.

    Found this interesting.

Arsenal through 27 matches, year by year:
    16-17: 50 pts, +22 GD
    15-16: 51, +17
    14-15: 51, +22
    13-14: 59, +25
    12-13: 47, +23
    11-12: 49, +17

Puts their season in a bit of perspective. It's not so much that they've regressed as they've failed to improve while the rest of the league has.

Even if that is at the detriment of the club itself? Is there a point where you would agree that Wenger has to go, what is that level?

And other than replacing the manager, what changes do you think should be made?

Wenger should stay even when he's old and proper senile in order to give us more boom-bust entertainment and AFTV outrage.

I don't want to see him leave on his worst season and will always have complete loyalty to what he's given the club. The day he leaves will be a sad day and an end of an era for me. For me it's a very personal relationship that goes beyond mere success or lack of it.

But I also think the club needs a shake up too

I think it's debatable what level Arsenal fans should expect considering the level the board has invested in the club over the past decade.

Realistically it looks like Wenger has underperformed this season and won't get top 4, performing below Spurs/Liverpool, who are investing in their squads on par with Arsenal pretty much. But Mourinho also probably isn't getting top 4 while benefiting from getting 3 players better than Arsenal signed in the summer.

What needs to change? Investment - more of it, shifting underperforming or complacent players and probably many more bollockings would be a good thing. I won't pretend I know more about tactics than Wenger or other managers, I don't.

    How does it though?

It's 2 games in March and then you go out. How does that handicap the league for you?

Just a prediction: it's gonna be Tuchel. Young, cheap and would allow the board not to spend that much in the end. Basically, a young Wenger.

I think Moyes forever scarred me from supporting changing your longstanding manager because as of now I were an Arsenal supporter I'd want him to stay.

We can laugh at the 4th place trophy but this guy has guaranteed it for them up until now and as we've found out getting 4th place isn't easy. It is an achievement.

You also have to keep in mind that unlike us, Arsenal won't spend hundreds of millions every summer on top of massive wages to attempt to bring them back to the top should they make a poor choice on his successor. I'd stick with the devil you know unless someone proven signs his name on the contract. And Tuchel isn't proven. If he fails where to next?

Now the question is, what kind of sack will be used when he's sacked?

Will it be a leather sack? Or just polyester?

What if Wenger comes out and says he will make big changes in the club, including players, coaching team, and how the team is set up to play etc. Do you think Arsenal fans would be okay with him staying another year to see if there are improvements/changes?
