I am working on the assumption that Spurs go through today and progress to the semi final.

Anyone else think it would be hugely unfair for them to have their semi final and of course final at Wembley? The reason the semi final is played there is because it is neutral, surely it would be highly advantageous to Spurs to effectively be playing at home for these games. Even with the 50/50 crowd split, they play at Wembley week in week out. They know the pitch, the facilities etc etc.

I think the semi final should be played elsewhere if they were to progress to this stage and possibly the final.

The Wembley Spurs play in is different from the Wembley the semi-finals will be played in. Fan allocation, music as well as decoration are very different. Maybe Spurs will have a small advantage having played there more recently, but it's not the same as a home game.

Bayern played a Champions League final at the Allianz, and lost. It's not a big deal.

I'm more annoyed that they now have the Premier League record attendance. That shouldn't be allowed.

The CL final isn't played their every year though. It's definitely weird.

Ticket allocation will be neutral and that's what matters.

Spurs have been also rans for Decades. They deserve some sort of handicapping to give them a slim shot at winning silverware.

It will give them an advantage definitely, regardless of ticket allocation.

Not true. Would you say the same if the matches were at OT? You are used to playing in Wembley so ticket allocation is a small factor only.

I read an interview with a footballer once that spoke about the advantages of playing at home. He said subconsciously you are much more aware of where you are on the pitch , how much pace you need to put on the ball etc. etc.

For example I think the interview he spoke about when he is in line with a certain advertisement or block in the crowd he is aware he is approaching his favoured shooting position.

It would be an advantage IMO.

However Spurs have to put up with Glaston supporting and representing them, so they do need a helping hand sometimes.

There is a study saying that home field advantage in sports is almost entirely down to refereeing bias towards the home team.

That can't be right because the referees haven't helped us out in about twelve years.

    Am I right guys?

I thought at the start of the season most said us playing at Wembley would kill us, all of a sudden it means we should win the FA Cup? Honestly you couldn’t make this up, what’s gonna happen when Chelsea move to Wembley for at least 2 Seasons, more likely will be 3.

It's the reverse situation. Spurs don't play at Wembley every year. It won't be relevant next year. The allocation of fans will be split. I don't see the issue.

Wembley isn't really our home though is it. The old Trafford comparison is pointless.

It is your ground for this season. You have played all your "home games" there. That itself gives you an unfair advantage.

I agree with this - and in fact I hate semis being at Wembley whoever is in them; just to make sure the fatcats at the FA can have their seventh Caribbean holiday of the year. There was something very special of semis at neutral (club) grounds

Well when they start their new stadium where else will they go? They are building right on top of their old stadium so it will be a lot longer than a season.

Would hardly be fair to opposition fans to deny them a day-trip to Wembley either.

Not bothered it’s Spurs home ground hardly their fault.

What I don’t like is the semis being played there. Should be finals only. Makes the occasion more special.

Yeah, I suppose it is a bit of an unfair advantage.

Thing is, if you moved their's you'd probably have to move the other semi too on the grounds that if you're denying the players/fans of whoever Spurs may face a day out at Wembley then the other semi finalists shouldn't get one either. Also, if Spurs lost a semi at a neutral venue, and the other was still played at Wembley then one finalist would have an advantage of sorts too, playing twice there compared to their opponent's one. So you'd have to move both semis.

If both semis were moved then you've got the same home advantage factor for the final if Spurs got there. They could well be playing someone who doesn't get to go to Wembley often so they possibly wouldn't want it moved anyway.

With both the semis and the final there's the money for the FA. Semis are what, a month after the quarters? Might be a bit late to start shifting stuff around anyway even if they wanted.

Bit of an advantage but it's probably best left as is.

It will counteract the disadvantage of their tendency to go all Spursy at the final hurdle.

I believe the interviewee in question was Sir Bobby Charlton. At least I remember him saying something along those lines. It's a clear advantage for Spurs, though less so than an actual home game consider the fan allocation and everything.

I think it should be played at a neutral ground like how it was before they moved all the semis to Wembley.

We have bankrolled teams (I don't include United here) in the league but Tottenham somehow have an unfair advantage.
