Am horrified by that. Story has gone under the radar a little but seriously the club should suffer severe fines for this and how were these men not arrested etc.. absolute disgrace. Their fans are vile as well (not all of them but they have a nasty contingent).

What delightful human beings. Fecking minors and abusing other minors physically and verbally. Scum.

Forget about football for a minute and imagine how the parents of those kids must be feeling... the urge to do something that would land them in jail must be strong.

I actually wonder how the senior players can condone this as there's no way word wasn't getting around about what these cnuts were doing. How do you bury your head in the sand and not get this kind of thing dealt with one way or another?

The inquiry into this would be something else.

This story is horrifying. I think this bit really blows my mind though, how can the club instantly re-hire this guy

How old are these boys now. Are they still in football? The thing is on top of the abuse they suffered there's also a fair chance it ruined a potential career too

A sign of the times really. A bit like looking back on the things that Saville did get away with.

I'm guessing 'the player' is being kept private?

Awful story. I'd like to think this level of racism still isn't happening in the top leagues

My cousin was in the Chelsea youth set up in the mid 90s for a couple of years. None of the stuff in that article is a surprise to me, sadly.

I'm pretty sure he's not being serious. That's the kind of stuff you'll see in a lot of other threads about controversies relating to racism (though often less serious than what is being alleged here).

Just a few stories about "hazing" and general shitty treatment.

The young players today get a bit of stick for having it too easy, it's a million miles from what it was 25 years ago thankfully!

I know Chelsea have a bad rep for it lately but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it was rife throughout all clubs in the pre 90s.

Fear this is the tip of an iceberg situation and we'll find many players will start coming forward now - perhaps something they were scared of doing before.

I agree that it is terrible to read and perhaps a blot on Chelsea's history, but it is unfair to blame the club as it is today, or all of its' fans, for the actions of a few. Also, those times were when there was no strict policing of such incidents and so the perpetrators could get away with it freely.

If you did that at some clubs in the 90's, you'd not get away with it at all. Chelsea have a murky past when it comes to racism, and it's one of the clubs where such a thing coming to light isn't a surprise, per se, same as if the story was about West Ham or Millwall, or Everton.

Point is, there's no way that word of this wasn't around the whole club. In that sense, I don't understand how senior players glossed over it, unless the perpetrators were being protected by others higher up in the club than senior players, which, I guess, also wouldn't be a surprise, unfortunately.

I know. The last time I had coffee chucked in my face, spat at, thumped, all whilst being called a P word by my employer/manager/coach/senior, it was just Bantz.
    I was greatful.
    I asked for more.
    It made me stronger.

All these reports are simply jumping on the bandwagon. Tryin to copy my life. The arrogance.

Can you really see the likes of Zola covering something like this up? Abusers can quite easily slide under the radar, infact most are expert at doing just that, it's hardly beyond the realms of possibility that Rix threatened things getting worse if the lads told.

It's been well known that Rix was a racist cnut. I remember there were stories and rumours as far back as the late 90s regarding his racism, and general thuggery. Chelsea in those days was trying to shed its image as the club of choice for the likes of the National Front and Combat 18, but they still had a persistent element of it back then...

After he was convicted, he was banned from working with under 16s (he was a first team coach at the time, not working with the academy).
