Nice story from the official website.

I know there was one poster who was quite upset about Jose giving the medal away, but I think this is a pretty cool story for a young supporter to have.

That was a very nice gesture, iirc it was Mou who said that for him it's a yet another nothing medal and for the kid it will be something that he'll always remember.

What a lucky young man! Shame we couldn't give him a winner's medal but then I guess to him it doesn't matter one bit. Priceless souvenir.

Funny thing is Jose has given a winners medal away, so the point being made becomes moot. But its nice by Jose regardless.

Thing is when this kid is winning to Ballon d'Or at age 19 and it is between us, Real Madrid, City, PSG and Bayern to sign him away from Southampton, he is going to remember this moment and I am sure it will tip the scales in our favor even more. Excellent ground work by Jose.

Why should anyone be fined for giving away their medal to anyone? Bizarre!

It was too quick judging guys. Looks like I shouldn't say he should be fined, those were my words before the press conference. But still some of the other words that I wrote are the one we should think about. Nothing has changed since Jose came, nothing against big teams. Our gameplay looks like we are the weakest team in the league, always.

Does it really matter if he gave it to the kid or left it in a cupboard in his house?

Least it'll mean something to the kid, even if it won't Jose.

Always liked it when he threw his medals away. They're just little pieces of tin sprayed gold/silver. Winning is about the achievement. Not what you get at the end of it. Ferguson gave all his medals to the museum. Giggs and Schmeichel did as well. They arent bothered about daft shite like that. They know they're the best.

Jose's just condemned that kid to a life of mediocrity. He'll forever be pleased with second-place and will never strive to be the best.
Plus he still hasn't sorted our LB position out and only just scraped into the CL because of the Europa League, which shouldn't even be allowed.
And our third kit is a disgrace, which is most likely Jose's fault too.
What other inane things have I missed?

In all seriousness, it was a great gesture from Mourinho. For all my reservations about his character prior to his appointment, I always respected him doing this in the past.

I just loved how Jose answered the question about giving his medal away during the post-match press conference. It genuinely picked up the atmosphere and lightened the mood in the room.

That kid's adorable. Imagine that happening to your 8 year old self. Damn, I'd be over the moon even it happened to my 30 something year old self.

If this kid gets to play football at pro level and gets the chance to play for Man United, that;s the most beautiful football story ever. Who would want a different life, lol.

Fantastic gesture from José. Giving it to a young fan like this speaks volumes. Despite appearing miserable most of the time, he clearly has a heart and cares.

For one of the best managers in the world with his record, I have no issue with him giving away losers' medals.
