Apparently Vertonghen grand Herrera around the neck. He clearly gives him a little clip while Herreras on the floor. Then I assume Herrera says something and Vertonghen responds.

Commentators mentioned a scuffle but amazingly no replays shown. I saw amazingly as they couldn't show Young elbowing Tadic enough.

That’s a red if the Ref sees it.

It’s one for that thread about the media not giving a shit if it’s not a United player though.

If that was Pogba the media machine would have kicked into action and the FA would have made their statement by now with a charge and a ban incoming.

Wow, I did not want to see this, I would have won £2000 had Vertonghen been carded.

Swepped under the carpet but if it was the other way around, there would have been outrage to get Herrera banned.

No mention on BT apart from the commentator literally mentioning the incident at the end of that clip. If that clip is it then I'm not sure there's much in it, yellow for Vertonghen and tell him to stop acting the eejit. Presumably this is again all part of this non-existent media conspiracy against United.

The commentators says 'There's stuff going on off the ball' and then nothing more. "No mention" would be referring to it not being revisited. Obviously you can be pedantic, but you can also see that, whilst there is obviously not a media conspiracy, it still shows a lack of consistency. He obviously grabs him by the neck and if that was seen by the referee then it would have been a red. In comparison to the Young incident, if the media hadn't constantly revisited it, it's very possible it would have gone unnoticed. This hasn't been replayed to death like the Young incident and so a player could go without being rightly punished.

Under current rules, how is that a yellow?

If the media focus on United players for fouls then don't on other teams (like Spurs) and if the media goes on and on about money when it comes to United (i.e. the cost of the Sanchez transfer) but not for other clubs (i.e. LFC and VvD or City and shed-loads of money spent), then I don't see how it's non-existent.

The media have used United's size for ages to sell stories, papers, web hits and while I think it's lazy journalism, I know it comes with the territory of being such a huge worldwide club so ignore them. But over the last couple of years (possibly linked to Jose coming), the media slant on United Vs other clubs has definitely got worse and increasingly biased.

Jose is always grumpy, Jose/United just spend cash, United are boring to watch, etc ..... wheres the balance? Where's the media story on Peps spend over the last 8-9 years? A Cafite posted it and it paints a clear picture on Peps continual spending but you hear diddly about Saint Pep but it's constant on United.

I've got no issue with reporting the good and the bad, as long as it follows for all clubs.

A violent conduct red is for using excessive force or brutality, I'm not sure that incident is clearly either of those. The Young one was in the penalty area at a dead ball, it's understandable why they went back to that but didn't to an incident down the other of the field which isn't exactly that egregious.

Thats actually appalling and a clear example of Spurs overly aggresive behavior during the match. Wonder if the FA will do something..

Nothing incident. Don't know why everyone are so quick to label spurs a dirty team. Been going on for the last couple of season's. They are fired up, they show a desire to win. Wish it was us, it used to be.

Vertonghen is the dirtiest defender in the prem imo, I still haven't forgotten that off the ball elbow in the neck he gave to RVP a few years back.

I tend to agree but the thing of it is, its not the same game anymore, or so they tell us while we get red carded for less than this. I remember Mark Noble picking up Herrera while the ref was laughing. Imagine Fellaini picking up an injured Aguero carrying him out the field, the ref would tell Aguero to headbutt him and give Fellaini a red card for violent conduct

Indeed, they got away with too many fouls.
if we had scored like their first goal, they would be talking about how we play long balls, how we lump ball forward from the off and all.

Ander Herrera is like our version of Dennis Wise. Everyone opposition fan hates him, and players seem to take great pleasure in giving him a kick or winding him up.

Let men be men. When you enter a football pitch, you are entering a gladiator arena not a daycare.

No it's not. Are you complete forgetting how Drogba was sent off against us in the CL final? This is a clear red card offense.

A gladiator arena doesn't have referees. And it's not allowed to actually fight on a football pitch, as the point of the pitch is for playing football as much as a daycare is for taking care of children, not for people working there to be insecure about testosterone-levels. Boxers give respect after fighting, here there is no fighting, so no consequences for acting tough. Let them be men tho
Yeah, With the new VAR-technology they can measure speed and force behind the impact of a slap to make sure it exceed the maximum force allowed for a bitchslap before handing out a card.

Spurs are one of the FA and Media darlings. So long as they have a core of British players people will turn a blind eye to incidents like this.

Hasn't he done the same type of shit against Torres a couple of years ago which resulted in Torrest getting sent off?

Tottenham are a bunch of thugs, this type of shit is encouraged by Poch, you can even see shits like Kane being thuggish, nothing new here really. Dembele, Ver, Alli, Kane, Dire, all are a bunch of twats, probably forgot somebody too.

How the feck nobody of Herrera's teammates didn't go for Vertonghen? Where is the team spirit, the fight in this lot? They are all hermanos on Instagram but when an opposition player grabs one of our own by the neck there's nobody to stand up for him.

Difficult time to do so as Spurs are immediately on the counter. I don't think many, if any, of our players even saw it.

Pogba and Lingard I'm sure would have got involved as they usually do, but they were off the pitch.

They are cowards or most of them anyway. This team lacks character, and in stupid little incidents like this one you realize why they bottle it in big games most of the time.

    - OK when we had the question 'who is the Chilean forward who made his Premier League debut for Manchester United against Spurs at Wembley?'...
    - Alexis Sanchez
    - Yeah, you know it now...
    - You just shout it out...
    - No no, tell them, what did you say then? What... did you say then?
    - ... ... ...
