The whole idea behind Jose coming in was winning trophies not rebuilding

For all his tactics and his post/pre match annoying excuses the main reason I was on board with Jose joining us was because we really desperately needed to win trophies.

We were willing to sacrifice tactics, long term domination and all of that for the instantaneous manager who can get us to win right now (and not make excuses of rebuilding like LVG or need "time" like Moyes)

But now, all I hear is "He has just come in. He has a lot to work with. It's a rebuilding job. We are improving" etc etc

Unfortunately, I think Mourinho is the best option for now (he needs to be reassessed by the end of the season) but can we all agree he is failing at his initial job of winning us trophies?

And let's be honest. Winning the Europa League was great given our situation, but not something we aimed for from the start.

Is there some deadline in which he needs to win a trophy?
That is if we count only league as a trophy. I guess the deadline is length of his contract. If he's failing this season that doesn't mean he's failing overall cause we don't know what will happen in the future. Especially since there are lots of signs of improvement. Let's not be that impatient.

He won 2 trophies last season. We're still in contention for 2 trophies this season?

    I don't understand how he's failing?

He's literally won two trophies already. Bizarre thread.

It is a rebuilding process. We’ve been shite since SAF retired and he’s won 2 trophies in his first season. Give him time and we’ll win more.

We still haven’t seen the likes of Rashford, Mensah, Tuanzebe, Pereira and Shaw in their primes yet. There’s exciting times ahead. And Pogba, Lukaku and Bailly are still young aswell.

He won 2 trophies in his first attempt. One of those trophies gave us the ticket to play in Elite Europe. I think he has pretty much completed his primary objective.

If you are talking about big trophies, then our entire defence unit bar Bailly or Shaw must be sold. They are not quality enough to deliver a UCL or the PL. Go back and watch Rio/Vidic and then compare to Jones/Smalling and you can see the latter are several light years below the former.

We're second to a team that has set a title-winning pace the like of which has never been seen before. They're freakish and have found themselves on the right side of every margin.

Name a manager in world football who'd be fairing better than Mourinho when faced with this Guardiola team.

Mourinho is being given the time to bridge the gap.

United Board: Mou, we want you to win trophies

    Jose: Ok!

*wins two trophies on his first season*

United Board: Oh, good. Here's some new players for you and a new contract!

    Jose: Thanks!

    Shamans: JOSE IS FAILING!

To avoid further confusion, replace 'trophies' with 'the league' in any subsequent threads of this nature.

:lol::lol::lol: Jose won the Europa League, League cup and Charity Shield (not a real cup) in his first season and the OP wants us all to agree he's failing to win us trophies?

Also still in the running for the FA cup and CL at the time of typing.

Some people have rocks in their heads or severe amnesia.

I really hate the CAF after a loss to a top team. More than the loss, the random knee jerk threads, doom mongering, questioning players and the manager just sucks the joy out of my life.

The next fecking game can’t come soon enough.
