    How come?

Didn't he win the World Cup and Euro 2000 with France? And blatantly handball to get you to another World Cup?

I assumed he'd be beloved in France.

It usually works. But with managers, not pundits. Ole is a manager.

Ironically Wenger ending his career in Monaco would have been cool. He ticks all the boxes for a club like that.

    He's French!

    sorry, just a joke :p

I've lightened up on him since he retired but I used to hate him as a player because of that arrogance so I can see why he'd be disliked yeah.

His only real good tournament for France was Euro 2000. 51 goals in 123 games makes him the best goalscorer for France but is a pretty poor return for an elite striker part of the best French generation ever. The handball also works against him as the French people like to take the moral high ground, especially after what happened at that world cup.

Overall I'd say the opinion is pretty split in France about him.

You have to start somewhere. I was willing to give him the benefit of doubt but he was too much like the player that he was, one thing that I really disliked outside of his tactics and infatuation for Tielemans, was his antics on the side line when his players did something wrong. In a way he reminds me Sagnol who was a little bit like that for Bordeaux and Sagnol was a youth coach for a few years before that.

    Finally!
Been saying it for ages here, he is actually liked by many on this forum which is utterly bizarre.
Couldn’t stand the sight lf him when he was an Arsenal player, absolute arrogant prick who never had anything interesting to say about the sport as a pundit.

    Touché.

What I meant was that in many other countries it is run like a project of passion, the coach is supposed to love the club and all that. If he's fired, he's supposed to feel enmity of some kind to the club in question. Not necessarily the case in Italy, although of course that's the case sometimes there as well. It's often viewed as a strictly professional matter. The coach is there to do a job, not go around cheering for the club.

Looking back at it, the celebration he pulled of sometimes when he acted like everyone should be grateful for what a great deed he had done was really arrogant. Much prefer the Inzaghi style where they just go ballistic.

They've done it repeatedly through their history looking at that list. Their last four managers were just two people .

Also, how did I not know that Enzo Ferrari was once their manager?

Fecking hell, was this Jardim-Henry-Jardim thing some kind of money laundering scheme?

It's very very suspect at the very least. Jardim gets a bonus for getting fired, now gets a bonus for getting hired again.

Don't know why Jardim going back is such a surprise. This goes on a lot in Italy.

Went for a mini break to return to the same place. At least avoid relegation if not it will be a disaster for both.

That's odd though. I'm guessing Griezmann, Pogba and all are loved in France, yet Henry is disliked? Tough crowd.

Weird situation but I guess the players + board have realised they actually had a decent manager already, the players just aren't good enough.

What’s the story about Henry humiliating monaco’s 20-yr old goalkeeper at a press conference?

Does Pogba come across as arrogant? Flamboyant and loud, but he’s infectiously positive. I can see a big difference in their demeanours.

Grizou is a handsome poster boy who has tended to show up in most big games for France. Player of the tournament and Golden Boot in Euro 2016, 4 goals and 2 assists in 7 WC games at 2018.

They are both likeable, team oriented and always positive. Both players are liked by everyone that is around them.

For me not a big deal, Badiashile didn't fully push his chair under the table and Henry acted as if he was blocked. While Badiashile should have pushed his chair properly, Henry was playacting.

And Henry is one of the best footballers let alone French footballers of his generation. He was arrogant for sure but I'm surprised that's such a deal breaker for French people.

You are mixing two things here. People rate him as a player but they don't like the man and his attitude at Monaco where he was allegedly insulting toward his players, where he would make everything about himself is exactly why people have an issue with him.

Meanwhile Lukaku (and Hazard to a lesser extent) calling for Henry to return to the Belgium national team.

Been on my sickbed for last 2 days....wow Jardim is back?!

This reminds me of when Derby sacked Steve McClaren...went through 2 managers in six months, were still paying McClaren's contract so just decided to re-appoint him.

Tbf, Palermo sacking coaches and hiring them again has more to do with Zamparini being crazy than anything else. They had more than 40 coaches in 16 years.

I'm surprised that their pundit roles breaking down games at sky didn't help them. Seriously, they watched countless games and analysed them, yet it was of no use...

This whole affair is already one of the biggest travesties of football history, relegation included.

Monaco better stick to the F1 Grand Prix.

Henry has been sacked because he didn't get the proper results. Period.

If arrogance-coldness-harshness was an issue in professional football, the sport itself would not exist.

Monaco are going down, if not in 2019, in 2020...
