This is what the league table acutally looks like

That's a painfully damning way to see it.

    Feck the state we're in.

A dip of 27 goal difference from the same point last season speaks volumes. It shows how quickly the wheels have come off. This time last year we were looking pretty good - still in all the competitions, with City's insane form being a decent excuse in the league for 2nd place.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly what affected our form, but the key things for me were Ibra leaving (he had respect of the players, plus was a huge Jose advocate - he kept harmony), buying Sanchez - hugely disrupted squad harmony on and off the pitch, and this summer's window - we didn't improve whilst Jose threw our squad under the bus repeatedly.

Morale is at the lowest I can remember, and it's hard to see how Jose can rectify this when he's been a huge contributor to it in the first place.

Good effort by the way @Maciek. Even if it's damning stats, it's a nice change to see some effort put in instead of the usual boring anti-Mourinho posts.

Thanks for the nice words, guys. I'll try to keep you updated as soon as possible after every game week.

Of course not. I hope that picture proves it. However, we can't forget that in 2006/07, after 15 games, we had 38 points, so it's just three fewer than City today. We seem to forget how good we and Chelsea were that season.

Makes you wonder why such a change in one season...

What is worth mentioning is also that, let's see how good Liverpool really are this season (39 points after 15 games). We've never had such a good start in last 20 years. Even in 1999/2000 when (we seem to think so) we dominated the league - we had 36 points.

That has been the apex since SAF retired. Easy to forget till we lost to City we were flying high. What was happening most games was it was tight till we got 1 goal and in last 20 mins or so we were scoring 2/3/4 goals. Our first bump was against City and then when we gave away the 2-1 lead away to Leicester by trying to hang on with defending deep only to concede a last minute goal. That was a killer cuz after that Mourinho became more and more conservative and essentially performances took a nose dive after that.

The difference between the Caf and RAWK are that we make produce new takes on league tables to show how shit we actually are compared to the title favourites, while RAWK produce alternative league tables that somehow always have Liverpool comfortably at the top despite them lumbering away somewhere in the top 7 in the real world.

    In that time period:
2 of SAF's 3 best starts saw us not win the league. The third of those 3 had people complaining about style of play throughout the season. After we lost our 12th(?) game 1-0 to Norwich that year there was a thread on here worrying about how we had lost 3 times in 12 games.

Ferguson's 3 worst starts in that time saw us win the league and make the CL final each year.

Jose's second season was our best start post Fergie. Even better, we won our next game but then lost to City-despite our great start we were already 11 points behind them!

In LVG's first season we had gone from 13 points after 10 games to 25 after 14 which made it feel like things were clicking. In his second season our 14th game was a draw at Leicester. The week before we had won at Watford to go top. We would get 2 points and no wins from our next 5 games.

Title is gone, and we only have a slight hope at top 4.

Saddest part is currently we're relying on City, Pool, Chelsea, Spurs to win both Cups to have any hope to even get Europa League!!!

    Wow !

So two of United's worse ever starts in the last 12 years are under Mourinho but his middle season was United's third best start in the same period

    That's quite incredible

Out of interest, why that particular period, as opposed to say since premier league inception ?

Took too much time when I was doing this, but wait a few minutes and you'll get such a graph starting from the 1995/96 season, it is when we had 20 teams in Premier League.

The one thing that surprises me about that is there are fewer times we've been leading the season at this point than I realised.

Wait a moment... Is this right? Because if it is, this means Liverpool is currently having a better start to a season (point-vise) than SAF's 06/07 ?
    I am shocked.

Yes, it is right. Don't forget that we lost to Arsenal at home in September and drew to Reading and Chelsea in our first 15 games. We were 12-2-1 (38 points), Liverpool are 12-3-0.

That's why I wrote that we can't forget that they are having a great season, too.

This season, we've been fecking worse than fecking União de Leiria in 2001. Still, can't imagine what Chelsea fans must have felt in 2015... (having won the league a few months before).

Isn't that a typical Mourinho cycle, though? First season pretty average, the second one very, very good (unfortunately, City were in an amazing form) and the third one a tragedy in five months?

It's a disgrace the way some fans point to Mourinho's past success to justify where Manchester United are at present moment in time. Like that makes sense in any way. He's done and his prickly attitude no longer has room to manoeuvre cos his credit depends on success; there's a distinct lack of that.

Keep worshipping the Godfather of Chelsea you mugs.

How many points did Man. United have in 10/11 at this stage out of interest? To me that's the "worst" SAF team to win the title (ahead of 12/13 which strolled it). I remember that season you drew so many away games and only actually won 5/19 in total which is incredible for a title winning side.

Naming this 'Maciek's Acutally League Table' or MALT for short.

    Applicable/useful for any leagues.

:cool:Nice use of the word 'a-c-u-t-a-l-l-y'.

EDIT: 'MALT Race' sounds better, MALTR.
