He seemed a good guy and wrote some great songs. Will always remember him popping up on Garry Shandling's shows. Coincidentally, Shandling died last year of the same cause and at the same age. RIP.

Incredible musician, one of the greatest rock musicians gone :(

For those out there who know a little about him there's a great 4 hour doc that covers pretty much his whole career. Basically a autobiography in video form.

I never knew he sang this song. Crazy.

I remember being in the car with my dad, and going through the CD albums that were in that area in the passenger door where they are normally kept. Remember seeing one of Petty's album and my Dad singing along to all of his songs.

Even from someone who knows not a great deal about him, I knew that he was a muscial legend.
    RIP

Ffs. Another one of my father's original heroes bites the dust. I always liked his music as well.

Guess that documentary "Runnin' Down a Dream" on him and The Heartbreakers, that's been sitting in my to watch list for over a year, just made it to the top of my list.

Hopefully he pulls through. CBS should fire the journalists who were involved in the false reporting.
