Or they sold Babel and then had the money to buy Suarez.

If you think the American owners were "scared" of the Torres situation, I suggest you wiki Manny Ramirez. They are most certainly not scared.

Strong rumours of a transfer request.

Sid Lowe saying all 3 parties want to do the deal.

Liverpool fan and Times reporter Tony Barrett saying he's got a bad feeling about it (but he's keeping things guarded because obviously he needs material for tomorrow's paper).

why do people want torres to leave?

its best for united if he stays at the vermin. If he goes to chelsea or city, he strengthens a title rival. Staying at in merseyside lets him fester away without really affecting us in the next 3-4 years.

Ideally he'd stay there forever, end up trophyless but a 'kop legend'.

Tony Evans says Torres wants to leave. It's on Talksport now.

Tony Evans is clueless isn't he?

He also said Torres and Super Stevie G were gone for sure once before.

Hasn't this entire 'he wants to go' story coming from Balague, who once declared we were on the brink of signing him from Atletico?

SSN were definately first with this, so it's all being based on his, practically always wrong, words.

I suppose Sturridge is an upgrade on the cash + Kalou rumours earlier, but still.

Tony Evans was banging on about how it impossible for Liverpool to be sold without Hicks and Gillet agreeing to it the day before they were sold. He's a clueless, biased bastard, and I have no idea how he rose to become football editor of the Times.

It was pretty unequivocal, he will leave this transfer window is the message emanating from all the hacks. To be fair Torres, Drogba and Anelka is a terrific selection of strikers if this comes off.

I don't mind him going to Chelsea but it is a strange move for him. He was stuck in a Madrid team that never really won anything same situation with Liverpool and now he is going to a Chelsea team who for the the next few years are going to rebuild due to the age of there players it doesn't make much sense.

If it has been the summer I still would have said we should bid. If he is willing to go to Chelsea I wouldn't call it loyalty. Knowing we were in for him for a few years before he joined Liverpool he must look and see us a well run club succesful and winning trophies the last few year and wish in some ways he had decided to join us. But with Berbatov doing so well and Hernandez deserving chances we really have no room for him and right now I wouldn't swap Berbatov for him which I never thought I would say!

Suprised Torres seems to want to force a move now, I would've thought he'd wait until summer.

I did consider whether it was wise to write that or not:D

Seriously though even with all the stuff regarding our owners the players and our level of achievment has not really suffered compared to the situation Torres has had to go through at Liverpool this would be dreamland to him I bet.

The funniest thing is last season Liverpool fans spent half the season supporting Chelsea. Even this season go on RAWK and they have sung the praises of Chelsea in the hope the stop us doing number 19. Now they want Torres they all of sudden have a problem with Chelsea and would rather he went elsewhere.

Torres came to England to win trophies only to spend last season seeing his own fans wanting Chelsea to beat there own side as that is they best they can do to be involved in where the title goes. And they wonder why he might want to join them. Karma is a bitch.

Looks like it may well happen. 45 million for a perma-crock. Its not all doom and gloom for Liverpool.

yes but still no written transfer request, plus this 2nd bit

rorysmith_tel Torres has, indeed, told #LFC he would like to move
to Chelsea. No formal transfer request. #LFC adamant he's not for sale.

IMO chelsea's primary motivatio for this that torres isn't cup tied for europe.

Howeer, even with torres, they'll fail in europe again and it'll make it all the more hilarious.

Well, look on the bright side. RAWK will again return as the bastion of endless entertainment, at least for a period.

They've just locked their third(!) Torres thread since this morning.

    RAWK censorship is alive.

Anyway, forget about Torres, what would this mean for Reina?

Surely he'd be gone in the summer?

That's where our interest should be (difficult as it would be to pull off).

I think it's impossible personally, there aren't many good keepers around so there will be many buyers and he won't want to be Scouse enemy no1.

I hope this doesnt happen, will be bullshit if we have to face them away from home with Torres because of that queef of a delay due a "snowstorm"

Thankfully, our current incumbent is naive enough to think that will never happen.

We don't trade with your lot and you don't trade with ours. Ferguson made that clear when he went all petty about Heinze and none can blame him for it.

Selling him now would be a disaster for the club. The signals it would send out to the rest of the players for the final part of the season and players around the world would be all the wrong ones.

I think we'll be alright if Torres goes in the summer, provided it is for the kind of fee Chelsea are infamous for.

Can't send out the signal of being a selling club and allow it to fest for half a season unchallenged by new purchases.

Still reckon someone will put their foot down and tell him 'if you wanna go, you'll go in the summer, love'.

Everyone has to get their big business done now before FFP rules in the summer.

Probably why Liverpool are (supposedly) willing sellers.

You won't get the chance to milk Chelsea dry again, and will be left with a sulky want-away tranny, who'll leave for a much smaller fee before long.

I doubt Liverpool would sell him now. Maybe at the end of the season if he still wanted to go but they'd be mad to sell him now considering they'd probably be able to squeeze more out of it in the summer if they could start a bidding contest between other clubs.
