To be honest, I would be far happier that place going to TFM, Pereira or even someone like Goss. We have enough in the way of options and should be looking long term to replace Carrick in the summer.

I have hope for Pereira. TFM I am sure whether he can make it in midfield. Sean Goss though, he is way way behind. His style looks similar to Carrick's. However, he has similar issues (again) to Carrick's in U21 games while his passing is way more inconsistent. U21 level is way way behind in PL game. It's hard for him to jump right into PL let alone the task to fill Carrick's boot. This area is too vital that can't set up a swim or sink scenario for him to try to prove himself.

That would be fantastic. But let's be real. Jose isn't going to do that.

Since Lyon is one of my absolute favourite clubs, i'd like that. Would absolutely destroy the league. We can still buy him back for 100m€ in a few years :p

Do you watch them regularly and would you want us to sign one of their players?

Yes and no. They have quite a few brilliant players, but i think no one that would help us right now.
Lacazette is obviously a very good striker, but not the right one for our system (dominating other teams). He is more like Rashford, needing space behind him, good passes.
Fekir would've been absolute brilliant without his injuries...this way too much of a risk, should first find his best form from 2 and a half years ago again.
Cornet is a good attacking talent, but we have enough of them ourselves. Wouldn't help the first 11 (or 16).
Tolisso is a lot in the media lately, but we surely don't need his kind of player. He is more a poor mans Pogba, then anything like a holding midfielder.
    Rafael maybe?...just kidding :)
The rest is not talented/gifted enough.

Thanks for the reply. Their young centre backs Mammana (great name btw) and Diakhaby are interesting as well.

If Lyon wants Januzaj we should demand Corentin Tolisso in return.

    Transfer Window:

    Jose Fonte
Southampton fans are familiar with losing their best players but one man they might have expected to remain loyal was the club captain who has led them up from the third tier. However, 33-year-old Fonte seems to have his heart set on leaving St Mary's in January, having submitted a transfer request last week. Suggestions that his days on the south coast are numbered were supported by his absence from Claude Puel's squads for their FA Cup and EFL Cup ties. Having signed no less than five of their star players in the last two years, Liverpool were understandably installed as the favourites to secure his services, but it is former club Crystal Palace who have emerged at the head of the betting at 2/1.

    Robert Snodgrass
As if Marco Silva's job was not difficult enough at Hull, he faces the added challenge of retaining the player who is almost single-handedly keeping their survival hopes alive. Boasting seven goals and two assists, the Scotland midfielder has been involved in more than half of his struggling side's goals, with Michael Dawson their second highest scorer. Much like their bid for Jermain Defoe, West Ham (9/4) seem to have overlooked Snodgrass' importance when offering up a mere £3m for his services. However, with six months remaining on the 29-year-old's contract, the Tigers look to be fighting a losing battle and it is Middlesbrough who are deemed the most likely side to make a reasonable offer in January.

    Memphis Depay
Jose Mourinho appears to be working out who he does and doesn't need at Old Trafford and Memphis Depay is one of those seemingly surplus to requirements. The 22-year-old, who arrived from PSV for £25m in June 2015, has played just 20 minutes of Premier League football this season for Manchester United and was not even included in the squad for their FA Cup clash with Reading despite a host of changes. With Yannick Bolasie sidelined for the rest of the season, punters are backing Everton to move for the Dutchman, while Nice appear to be their main rivals for his services.

    Saido Berahino
Saido Berahino's troubled days at West Brom have been confirmed to be numbered after Tony Pulis revealed the forward will not sign a new deal, but the question for now is whether he departs in the current transfer window. The odds suggest so, with staying at the Hawthorns a 5/1 chance, although the bookies have got it wrong a fair few times before with the 23-year-old's future. Stoke are the current favourites to secure his services with West Ham considered the most likely alternative, while Rangers seem to have emerged as unlikely suitors at 18/1.

    Jordan Rhodes
Another player to have seen his playing time limited this season, Jordan Rhodes was seemingly signed to fire Middlesbrough out of the Sky Bet Championship and no further. The 26-year-old has started just twice and made four substitute appearances this season, with Alvaro Negredo favoured. The arrival of Rudy Gestede has added to the feeling that Rhodes is no longer part on Aitor Karanka's plans, with the odds on his still being at the Riverside come February lengthening. However, an obvious suitor is yet to emerge, with the favourites currently Sheffield Wednesday, where his father Andy is currently employed as goalkeeper coach.

    Stewart Downing

The former England international may have enjoyed more playing time this season for Middlesbrough but an exit is considered even more likely, with his odds on remaining currently 13/2. The winger has made seven successive substitute appearances after being a regular starter and is being well backed to reunite with Sam Allardyce at Crystal Palace. The Eagles, who are also reportedly chasing Leicester's Jeffrey Schlupp, are just 2/7 to secure his services, with Aston Villa deemed the most likely alternative at 8/1.

I think so, well that and the similarities with the Martial transfer in that its the same club and a player I've barely heard of but is supposed to be good.

Chris fecking Eagles, what a blast from the past! Used to watch him dominate reserve games on MUTV, he used to get to the 70th minute, draw fouls from opposition players then proceed to lay on the ground for about 20 seconds each time because of how tired he was. Paddy Crerand would then say "the young lad's shattered Steve, he'll sleep well tonight" to Steve Bower. This used to happen almost every game, like clockwork.

    Great days.

Jesus he's had a bit of a fall from grace. I remember him scoring a great goal against Everton when we beat them 4-2 at Goodison back in 07 I think it was.

My aunt actually used to work with his mom. She managed to send me home some sort of card with his picture on it signed by him. I still have it at home!
