Please don’t. Peaked already
Don't you think we could use his experience? Especially if we move on from Rojo and might be bringing in another young CB? I think in that position having at least one player with a bit experience can be vital.
He's a great centre back
He was yeah
I don’t think he’s really looked the same since his injury and secondly I’ve always felt that vertongen made him look better. My opinion of course.
I’d really rather that we invest in young players who already have experience under their belt like DeLigt, Skriniar, etc.
I personally think their hunger would outweigh any experience that an older CB would bring. For me, experience is important when you chuck a load of young players in from your reserve teams, like we did with the CO92
That's fair and I usually tend to like signing young players more than established ones. But if you look around Europe all teams that are winning or have been competing in their league have at least one experienced CB in their defence. Sergio Ramos next to Varane, Pique next to Umtiti. Monaco got better when they signed Glik. Chiellini, Bonucci and Barzagli, Thiago Silva next to Marquinhos or Kimbembe. Fazio and Manolas. Raul Albiol next to Koulibaly. Otamendi and Kompany. Boateng and Hummels, recently next to Sule. Miranda next to Skriniar.
Obviously Smalling could be that player for us, but I think we quite often need someone that is better on the ball than him.

Just how many CB's do they need?! Hope we're in for him as reported.
Napoli also rejected a huge bid from an English club for Koulibaly. Must've been us.
I’d put money on it
Can we add the mirror to the blacklist after they lied about Jose getting sacked
IF true that’s bad news for it could mean Shaw isn’t going to sign a new contract. On current form he’s the last player that we need to replace
I doubt it - we need two LBs
Young will probably leave soon.
Mitchell, I don’t see the point of spending another €50m on that position
I'd be staggered if we bid €45m for a player who hasn't kicked a football since October 2017. There's no way we're in for Ghoulam.
Yep. Reeks of his agent still trying to make him relevant again.
Isn't this guy a proper crock?
Sounds like a perfect replacement for Jones if he finally leaves.
Did you quote yourself to ask that? Look four posts up and your question is answered.
What about Mitchell? Do people really think he will be good enough?
Yes I did...Oops!
Shaw will play most games so yes
Offering €60m for a 21 year old with less than 30 appearances in Serie A would be ridiculous.
Didn't we make a similar sort of bid for Martial?
It seems Mourinho is obsessed with Serb/Croat players.
It seems like it - has he ever bought a Dutch player before? If we buy someone that's young I would like us to go for De Ligt
Maybe they have the right attitude and are able to stand out and be counted? He's done well out of his signing from that part of the world. For me just buy anyone from France, they have some amazing talents, just a shame Jose isn't getting the best out of the ones we have currently...
De Ligt is probably nailed on for Barca unfortunately.
I think he admires their discipline, hard work combined with their natural technical flair.
De ligt would be awesome.
He got the best performances out of Sneijder. Robben, left due to Jose. Picked up Babangu, Van Ginkel & Kalou from Eredivisie, so he's obviously not adverse to signing players from there.
Well I hope hes good as thats quite a bit of money for little experience
I'd imagine our scouts have known about his potential for some time..
Regardless it’s still a valid point. €60m rejected? Why don’t we use that money towards DeLigt, Pavard, Skriniar or koubilay?
De Ligt would be my first choice...
I doubt Fiorentina would reject 60m for him. They will sell him to Juve for 30m in the summer
Why not go for him after he left Partizan then?
We're not really that risky
