This is precisely why focusing only on domestic/English young talent is fecking dumb.

Could get 5 Longstaff equivalents from Spain, France, Germany or Italy for that fee.

We should have been all over extending Super Tommy Tryball’s contract.

"Pogba closer!!. Pogba finally met with Woodward .The player, who ended up almost crying, begged to be sold to Madrid, his lifelong dream"

Hihi, I was kidding. Apparently Madrid want to raise 100 million in sales, and are aware that the operation will be "on a slow fire", as Manchester do not want to sell.
Madrid did not like the words of Raiola, because create bad atmosphere and complicate things. They say that Zidane wants him, and he wants to go to Madrid.

It's got nothing to do with nationality.

It's to do with the selling club being rich.

Buying an equivalent talent from Barca or PSG or Juve would also be expensive.

It has a little to do with nationality with the home grown quota driving up prices.

But the main reason is that any young British player who's any good is already going to be at a club like Newcastle, who can all now afford to hold the big clubs to ransom like never before. The best domestic players you can get on "the cheap" now are the likes of James or Tierney who havent played any Prem football.

If PSG or Juve wanted Longstaff.. Newcastle would bite there hands off for €30m not even £.

You've disgraced yourself here, reporting a PL signing what a sell-out. Banworthy I would say.

Yes that is true however the market price for players is still rising so it balances out.

Just hold your hands up Nick7! I also didn't know who he was and at a quick glance saw the gloves and long sleeves in a green kit and thought he was a 'keeper

You have a deeply embedded preconception, and so invented a fantasy to prove it.

Your fantasy has no basis in reality.

Real is probably the ones who told Pogba to say that he wanted "a new challenge".

Remember Real openly talked about 2 years about Ronaldo before he left. Fecking hate Real.

Salah just finished as top scorer for the second season running. And Aubamayeng tied him for golden boot this year and he's scored goals no matter where he's played. So no Lukaku isn't on par with everyone outside of Kane and Agüero

Yeah I saw green and gloves and thought it was Declan Rudd. To be absolutely fair, his Wikipedia page has him in a green shirt.

Neither is Rashford, simple as. Buy a replacement first or don’t sell. Selling for the sake of selling is stupid. Lukaku was our 2nd highest goal scorer last season, despite limited appearances. Getting rid makes no sense unless a superior replacement is lined up.

Exactly. Rashford had multiple opportunities to claim the number 9 spot as his but didn't take it. Can't rely on him to score goals when a Lukaku in terrible form for 80% of the season still manages to outscore him.

Considering you quoted my original post which stated we can buy a new striker I have no idea what you are on about

You ignored half of my previous post mate, who is this mysterious striker of yours then? Are you keeping up to date with our current transfer movements or lack of should I say. We're not exactly the greatest attraction in football in case you haven't noticed. Also bearing in mind, it's a seller's market with very little quality strikers available. But yes, let us sell Lukaku for the laugh and start Greenwood up front for the whole season. Solid plan.

We have been linked with Yedder.
But the main point is if Lukaku doesnt fit into how Ole wants to play makes sense to sell and get someone who does. Even if they are not as good since depending on style they may be more effective.

Im all for keeping him but it depends on Ole first and foremost and the way he wants to play.

We're currently struggling to sign players from Newcastle & Leicester... It sort of sums up our bargaining power in this market. I just don't trust our strategy at the moment, I can't see us bringing in a quality striker this summer. If we sell him however, I pray to God, the board & Woodward prove me wrong.

As per David Amoyal, SMS willing to stay another year, Utd willing to offer 80m euros, Lazio want 90m euros...

To be fair to Newcastle, they are doing exactly what we are with Pogba. Put your money where your mouth is.

Not really, Longstaff has made a whopping 9 premier league appearances and they want £50 million for him, that's insane.

    £5.6m per appearance!

Messi has played 452 league games in his time, which makes him worth £2.5bn...

    Logic?

Games played, goals scored, whatever, none of that is relevant. They own the player and don't want to sell, so they value him higher than they believe the interested club would pay and if they lose the player they're laughing all the way to the bank. Same as us and Pogba.

Amoyal works with Di Martino doesn't he? If so you'd expect this one to go through with only roughly £8M seperating us.
