He looks like Drake in a fat suit.
Signed a new 5 year contract with Watford.
First Vardy, now Deeney. Where is all this loyalty in football coming from
Smaller clubs being able to pay far more than they could in the past combined with being a starter for those clubs makes it attractive I guess.
Think he is shit myself.
fantastic to see. Always liked Deeney and tbh after this summer im starting to like Vardy as well.
No one was actually trying to sign Fat Drake. Probably just his agent stirring the pot with rumors to get Watford to act.
I'm so glad we didn't buy him for the money talked about, he would have been a useful signing and an upgrade on Okazaki in that role but he is not now nor will he ever be a £30m player, not matter the prem inflated prices
This is your typical relegation battle player. Of course he's got nothing to do in a big club. He's just not a good enough player. His attributes suits teams trying to squeeze points out of other clubs instead of dominating the game.
Its all about money mate.
Just thought I would bump this thread because of how scummy this guy is.
Two 4 match bans already this season then feels the need to put up his middle fingers in celebration of a goal? How is that not worth another ban?
Can’t wait to see him back in the championship where he belongs.
I'm not going to get into how scummy is or whatever, but I think in today's climate that probably should be a ban. I don't care myself, it is what I would expect though.
While he's ended up with both middle fingers in the air his right one goes up first and is clearly aimed towards the Chelsea fans. He's looking at them at the time and it's in their direction. He then brings the other one up as he runs off as an afterthought to try to make it look like it was part of a general celebration but it's so obvious what he was doing.
You've got to be really naive to think it had anything to do with his explanation, saying it was about transfer speculation. "I've kept quiet because I realise talking gets me in trouble. That was a case of letting everyone know I saw everything and I am still here."
This guy basically lives of penalties. I can't remember the last time I saw him score from open play.
Don't want to sound like a fake ITK. He was apparently telling a friend of a friend that he was definitely moving to WBA in Jan. Looks like he was getting ahead of himself but his relationship with Silva had become irreparable. Wonder what will happen now that Silva's gone.
Not as good as Heskey but he's not as bad a player as some would make him. Considering it's Watford in the PL, he's doing ok.
Should get a call up from England for WC then. While not a very best plan B/C option, but would be Okayish. And knowing how to take penalty is a big help. Strong England trams got undone by penalty shootout so why not try something different.
Typical “Av it!” powerful smash down the middle every time too.
I like him, he's also not too bad as people make him out to be. Wasn't there a Troy Deeney thread on here during Moyes or LVG's first season? As in some on the Caf wanted to sign him. Football needs more scumbags.
Wasting a squad place and a late sub in a crunch tie on a specialist penalty taker doesn't sound the best strategy to me when there are clearly several better players than him in his position. Also imagine the scenes if he missed after all.
I'm not saying Deeney comes across as the most pleasant of people but there's something about his honesty that is refreshing if not admirable. I read a story a while back about him getting into a fracas in public in which he'd chanced a rare outing to a nightclub in town with family and friends, posed for photo after photo without complaint and then reacted to someone taking a liberty/the piss with him. When the incident happened the story was 'Bad boy footballer acts a cnut in public again' but another more nuanced side had been missed.
Deeney for the World Cup?! How can anyone seriously recommend that with a straight face?
Has there been mention of this possibility in the media? Because it seems like before every tournament there's some kind of press campaign to have a typical old-fashioned lump of an English centre-forward called up.
He's some how managed to transition gloating about what a bunch of wimps Arsenal are, to thinking it's cool to pretend to be some kind of playground thug.
A bit like a Kevin Nolan...the kind of "fan hero" that you don't actually want as a fan hero.
I think there were a few murmurs about Andy Carroll before he got injured.
One match ban:
Two Match ban, not a hand gesture but an audible swear:
Two match ban:
So what are the rules? Are there even any? Or is it just based on a criteria of "feck, I'm not doing all that paperwork. Let it slide".
I thought I am transparent with my post
I couldn't care less with England NT. England may have other components to make great team, but the core is pretty much gutted with the midfield options. While not saying Deeney is the one to look at, but the option to go bypass midfield in certain situation should be looked at with that kind of midfield
Shocked (not really) that more hasn't been made out of this.
Its not even the old United bias, as @OnlyTwoDaSilvas has kindly demonstrated.
Fair enough mate, I think we can agree England aren't great either way. If we're looking at giving Deeney a seat on the plane I'd say we're doubly fecked
Troy Deeney: "Too many people just want to be told how great they are. Just be happy with yourself. We’ve all got flaws. I’ve got a big head and teeth like a shark. So what? It is what it is.”
And big cojones.
Separate names with a comma.
