Business as usual at OT.
Nice to see Berba back for the run in.
Great result and performance.
Some will only care about the young penalty though....spastics
nice thread title
Good solid performance. Evans and Rafael both played great, Scholes is still the best.
No one will mention Given's handball outside the box though
Delighted with that performance.
If Rooney was sharp today it could have been a cricket score.
You just did.
You're not Twigginator, you vile liar.
Exactly what we all wanted. Completely dominant, and took advantage of it by scoring in abundance. If anything, we could have had a few more.
That should ease any lingering nerves for the time being.
Yes, was a bit disappointed with some of our passing though. Nice to see Berba playing, hopefully the goals for Welbeck and Nani will give them some confidence and help them give us that boost up top to get us over the line.
ref saw it and waved play on. No issues there at all
Dominated from start to finish. Great way to bounce back after a disappointing result.
I was updating my phone you bastard. Would you jump in my grave this quick?
Doom and gloom subside once again.
Bit strange, it was deliberate, hey ho though. Some of the lads stepped up today. Rafael had a corker.
A much welcomed return for the multi-goal penalty decision. Hadn't seen it since that Spurs game where it was worth 5.
Villa were a joke but we did the job very comfortably. Great to see nani and berbatov involved. Ashley young is a bender but it was a pen. Brrrrrap brap.
The attitude and the performance were spot on. That's what we want to see. No settling, no complacency, just relentless pressure until it's over.
He didnt get booked.
I did credit you on the thread... I could have called it 77's post match v. Villa
Yeah, what's the thing with that? Do people want a red brandished for sliding out of the box accidentally? Not like Welbeck had a goalscoring opportunity.
Brilliant performance today, the Ginger Prawn showed why he can't go to the retardment castle anytime soon.
Linesman wave his flag, ref allowed it to continue. Possibly forgot to book him. I care not
I see where you're coming from in terms of soft cards, but there was a definite motion towards the ball when he realised it wasn't going out of play. It wasn't like he was sliding with the ball in hand and happened to go outside the area.
Nothing accidental about what Given did. He clearly knew he was outside the box and used his hand to stop Welbeck taking the ball. Blatant red card.
I dont care either, but I think the suggestion would be that it wouldve been bigger news had De Gea done the same.
I dont care.
Yellow surely. Can't say it was a definite goal scoring opportunity from that position.
There was no keeper in goal. If a striker can't stick the ball in an empty net there's something wrong.
Did Nani get booked just for having an evil face?
From where he was, it wasn't such an easy goal. At least not a 'clear goalscoring opportunity' with players coming to defend on the line as well. Don't be ridiculous.
But speaking of Young milking the contact for the penalty; feck it. If you don't make the referee see that contact was made then you're going to get fecked over at the other end, so feck that shit.
If Welbeck had fallen over when his shirt was tugged against Wigan we might've got a penalty, but he stayed up and didn't make the ref aware that he was impeded by the contact and got feck all for it. Instead we get shafted down the other end and drop points.
Yes, it was theatrical and looked pathetic, but there was genuine contact on his right foot enough to make him fall over and as such was a penalty. I don't see why the ref can't punish the contact with a penalty and punish simulation with a yellow card for the same incident?
Can those nervous posters with little faith who have been so negative in 'The Manchester Title' thread please perk up abit now? We are Manchester United. This is what we do. We know how to win titles, year in, year out.
You can't win every game, nor can you win the title every year .... but as long as SAF is in charge, we will always be there or thereabouts. Only one team in the entire history of the English team has gone unbeaten the entire season, so the odds are that even CHAMPIONS will lose matches, even unexpected matches like we lost against Wigan midweek. But the reaction by some was just nuts!
I don't understand, after so many years with the great man in charge why our fans get so nervous or panic so quickly.
Today we showed what we have shown since the new year, authority, calm and tidiness, despite the fact that we did not play that well nor perhaps have the world class edge that we've had in previous years. And they here we are, Leading the league by 5 points with only 4 games to go and the strong possibility of that being 8 points before our only contender plays his next game.
Solid performance all round, Not our best and yet we so easily won 4-0, playing his third gear most of the game. And yet 4-0 is probably a very fair result and reflection on the control we had on the game. The 2 huge added bonuses for me were Rooney getting a brace despite having bait of a mare (by his standards) and now Nani getting 2 great cameo appearances under his belt as well as the confidence boosting goal and so now fit, ready and in form the help lead the charge to the finish line, we Im very confident we will end up Champions. Heck even Berbatov got some game time.
A good day all round.
Well he didn't, he didn't even try, because he didn't have the opportunity to do so..
I'm not being ridiculous but thanks for your concern.
Partly due to the keeper knocking it away from him with his hand at one stage.
So you think that Welbeck would've been able to spin around and hit the back of the net with his right foot from close to the line, and with enough ease to be able to label it a 'CLEAR goalscoring opportunity'? Like I said, don't be ridiculous.
"anything you can do I can do better"
Nice song choice by Sky
Excellent performance, particularly by our defenders and midfielders. Scholes was majestic, Rafael was superb, and it was great to see Rio and Evans advancing forward with the ball like they did. If Rooney and to a lesser extent Welbeck had been a little bit sharper God knows what the final score would have been.
I don't think the opportunity to set up a clear goal scoring opportunity counts.
I'm not sure why we're bothering to talk about this.
Scholes. That is all.
