British football at its purest, that passage of play.
Sad news RIP
Terrible news to wake up to.
He grew up on the next street to me in Hackney, and I knew him and his family well. His brother was a good friend of my brother growing up.
Too many people being lost these days. So random this one too. Thoughts with his family.
Oh Jesus, what a shite news.
Prayers and thoughts with him and his family, may he rest in peace.
So sorry - may he rest in peace.
Sad news RIP Ugo, was a cracking player in his day, and according to those who new him a nice bloke too.
Flipping hell. Collapsed yesterday, died today. Such sad news.
Legendary player for my generation. A typical buy in computer games when choosing an average team and wanted to play the game as realistic as possible.
RIP. 44 is so young by modern day context. I remember he was one of our rumoured transfer targets in the late 90s along with us signing Yorke.
He could have gone down as one of the England greats if not for all of the injuries. RIP big man.
Terrible terrible news. Really liked him as a player. RIP.
Feck. I always liked him; he was wasted at Villa. 44? Jesus.
Awful news. RIP Ugo
Shocking and incredibly sad news. He was a very good player and seemed a thoroughly decent man.
Condolences to his friends and family.
Not much you can say at a time like this.
Saw him in a pub garden one Saturday afternoon the summer before last. My brother in law is a huge Villa fan so he went up and spoke to him. He was a really lovely guy; chatted with my brother in law for a while about Villa's woes and even ended up on the phone to my brother in law's best mate discussing Villa's current defence.
He looked in great shape as well; really shocking that he could just drop dead like that.
KWP : You were like father figure to us all. Thank you for everything you've taught us on & off the pitch. RIP Ugo, you will be missed
Charlie Ownes : Rest In Peace gaffer
Josh Onomah : Way more than just a coach, a father figure as well! Done so much for all of us boys. RIP Ugo. See you soon
Shaq Coulthirst : One Of The Nicest Men To Learn From. A Lot Of Good Memories. Rest Up Ugo
Shayon Harrison : One of the most genuine, and caring people I've ever met. An honour to have been taught by you, not only as a player, but as a person.
Shilow Tracey : Rest in peace Ugo glad to have been taught by you! Great man, great player. learnt a lot
Luke Amos : Lost for words. Thank you for everything Ugo
Luke McGee : So sad to hear the news this morning. Blessed to have worked with and learnt off both on and off the pitch. A true Gent. RIP Ugo
Anthony Georgiou: Learnt a lot from an amazing manager player and person. From his first day here he always was there to talk to help and make you smile. rip
Ryan Mason: Words can't explain how devastated I am to hear the news of Ugo. He had a huge influence on the young lads at Spurs while I was there. I can't speak highly enough of him. All of my love and thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.
Ledley King: So shocked & saddened to hear the news this morning of @UgoEhiogu passing away. My thoughts & prayers are with his family at this time
Erik Lamela: So sad to hear about Ugo, my condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace Ugo
Gary Lineker: Dreadful news that Ugo Ehiogu has passed away. So young, so sad, such a lovely guy. #RIPUgo
Some truly saddening messages from academy players especially, past and present. What a loss for his family.
Absolute tragedy; football is a family no matter what club or nation you are from, we are all together.
was a good player
So sad. Judging from the heartfelt tributes a genuinely nice guy too. 44 is no age. RIP :'(
RIP, terrible news.
Bloody hell, 44 is no age. Rest in peace.

Enjoyed watching him play. RIP.
So sad. He got taken to the hospital I used to work at.
He was always part of my 90s premier league nostalgia. RIP.
RIP seemed a lovely guy off the pitch as well
feck. Remember him coming though as a kid (mostly because of the cool name), so sad.
Jesus, just seen interview with Dwight Yorke. He is devastated
Very sad. Seemed a nice bloke too.
He was a footballer during the peak times of my football support. He was also really underrated, fantastic player.
Yeah was really choking up. Ehiogu's last tweet is incredibly heartwarming and heartbreaking now. RIP.
Just heard about this earlier, and it's terrible, and reminds you how fragile life is. Didn't know him personally, obviously, but from all the messages and praise coming out it seems like he was a great guy, and he was one of the staples of 90s Premier League football in a proper Aston Villa team!
Oh, what a shame, so young RIP
Only 44 years old. Remember him, especially with Villa
I remember that Villa team from the treble season. They were top at Christmast and United can only draw against them at Old Trafford.
What a bloody shame. RIP. Thoughts with his family.
