Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date Manchester United want Benfica youth Umaro Embalo - sources http://www.espnfc.us/story/3235147/manchester-united-want-benfica-youth-umaro-embalo-sources
At his age one of the best prospects in youth football from the generation of 2001, won the award for best player in Montaigu tournament in 2017.
We're always linked to young Portuguese players since Ronaldo and it very rarely happens especially from Benfica
Bruma has loads of talent, if he had a brain and was't surrounded by agents that only look for short-term profit could be at any big club by now. He is still young and can possibly suceed at the highest level.
After reading the article doesn't look nothing special, they are just scouting him, don't know but probably he has a professional contract signed, don't know if Benfica will sell him, don't like to see players leaving the country so soon, regardless of rivalries.
Tbh Umaro has the same agent as Bruma, Catio Baldé, hopefully Umaro is more inteligent than him, but without watching much of Bruma lately, he looks like is slowly being integrated to Leipzig best 11. By the way, there is nothing wrong if he makes a carrer at Leipzig, not everybody has to be a Real Madrid, Barcelona, United player to make a carrer, problem is expectations at youth level are always hard to fulfill when they make the transition to professional football.
He didn't signed his first professional contract yet, but I think Benfica will be his first professional club. If he doesn't sign a professional contract with us, the supporters will find it offensive, lack of effort in securing one of the best youth prospects in the academy, being the focus on the academy system as an election promise(consider that Bernardo Silva, for example, was recognized by the fans as a beast ready to unleash and by sold before breaking into the first team; João Cancelo is another example) Speaking for myself, I don't know how good he is, but amongst the supporters that watch the youth games, it's consensual that the kid has some qualities. About the United interest, I think they are just following closely a recognized good young player, as any big club does.
Umaro, João Félix and Florentino are probably the 3 best prospects from Seixal imo. I guess what he was saying was that Bruma was expected to be 1 of the best prospects in youth football with the same age as Umaro, at a professional level only last season with Galatasaray and only now at Leipzig he is showing some signs, but he will not reach the level of a Bayern Munchen, United, Real Madrid, like it was expected when he had 18. Bad agents surrounding him, left Portugal in a controversial way with only 18, injuries and all that, he is from the same generation as Dier, and Dier has reached a higher level sooner, that is why I am always posting here to calm down some posters here when you are analyzing youth players, total different world from professional football. I only have to mention when Portugal won the under 20 WC in 91 the best player of the tournament was a guy named Emilio Peixe, the other who was the favourite from Carlos Queiroz at the time he managed the team was João Pinto, the players who reached a higher level in international football were Figo, Rui Costa, only 2 examples, I could give you many.
Winger who we've apparently signed from SL Benfica. Saw him at the Marveld Tournament 2 years ago and was probably the best player there which had some amazing players. Still regarded as one of the best prospects in Europe and I think Madrid bid around 8 million for him in the summer. http://www.record.pt/futebol/futebo.../detalhe/umaro-embalo-ruma-ao-man-united.html
45 seems a bit old for a winger but as the prime minister of Guinea-Bissau he will get us some more fans in Africa.
Benfica fans on reddit and twitter are gutted to lose him. They also think this report is true considering his agent has been saying for some time that he doesn't his future in Portugal and has been linked with United for quite some time.
Hopefully another sign that we're getting our act together after hiring Ribalta, Guzman and all the other scouts. If we're going to get back to the top this is the way to do it.
Dont think its a done deal yet, he is considered to be one of the most talented young players in the world. Think until there is further confirmation this should be taken with a grain of salt.
It is Gomes that concerns me most now. I hope we can hold on to him as he has the ability to be tops.
Personally I think we've lost Gomes to Barcelona, they've been linked with him for a while. With him not signing a new deal apparently due to lack of path to the first team, I can see him getting a better path at Barcelona. But I'm impressed with the above video, a RW that can use both feet, his acceleration and dribbling are Good, could become quite the player. Edit: seems Embalo is quite the free kick specialist too and in one assist a great weight of pass.
Yes, a very good prospect. We have some great players coming through academy as long as we can hold them here.@pascell
Isn't he a really incredible talent? I believe he's got a better record in the youth international set up than Vinicius Junior, who cost Madrid £40m recently.
If the link to the news is portuguese football newspapers better wait and see, would not be surprised if this wasn't just is agent pressuring them for a better contract

Yeah saw that. Still waiting for some known journos to say something. Until then its just conjecture imo. When we sign players there's usually a lot more than what we're seeing here.
Bruma is actually not all that bad. He would have probably been one of our best wingers for the RW. He's direct, quick and has a decent shot on goal. His style of play is very similar to Mane. And if this kid is anything like Bruma, we would have a decent player on our hands. Problem is that he's 16 and won't feature in the first team for the next 3-4 years. Angel Gomes whose pretty good isn't getting a look in (even in the cup games)
Still doesn’t look ‘amazing’ in any video I watch. For the amount of times I’ve seen him referenced as the ‘best in the world’ at his age (or one of them), he doesn’t seem all that.
Compared with the ones you have in your academy will be very suprised if he will not be the best player there... And judging players by videos or best players in the world or ages is pointless.
Well I’m not going to go to Portugal watch an U16s match or whatever so videos are all I have. If later, I see something else, I will say something else - but for now, I’m not that impressed.
