Being reported on the BBC now.
From Neymar to Welbeck
Just feels like he’s not the right guy to take them forward, 5th place finish and a sacking next year.
Anyone know how good he is? Did well at Sevilla right? Good appointment?
Don't know much about him to be honest.
What type of play is his style?
Keeps arsenal right where they are for the near future.
Could have done worse tbh, interesting appointment.
He had the same hype as Sarri does now when he went to PSG.
What are their aims next season? Top-4? Just seems unrealistic with their squad. Can see him being hounded out quickly by the fans.
I hope he doesn't get them play beautiful progressive football.
With Emery I can't see Welbeck getting a shoe in ahead of Auba or Lacazette.
This could go either way. Don't know what to make of him really.
Okay. He won about three Europa leagues with Sevilla though didn't he? Sarri has won nothing to date but the hype around him is a bit unreal.
I'm dissapointing. I wish for Arteta. At least, they have a tiny bit common sense than appoint someone like Arteta.
Not really. He was seen as a cup winner, pragmatic type of manager.
Was Arteta a smokescreen then?
Very very sensible appointment by Arsenal, they’ve already improved as far as I’m concerned.
Will he bring Neymar with him
3 Europa Leagues if we are to believe they are worth much.
With Emery i can see Welbeck in Everton next summer
Smart to bring in a Europa League specialist.
Question mark required in the thread title for the moment (and I still hold out hope they'll give it to Arteta).
I am glad as rather him than Arteta. Anything on Wenger is an improvement.
He has been confirmed.
They'd give him time. He needs at least 2 seasons to get his own players in.
"I've fecking had enough Robbie!"
Arteta was nailed on to get the job. Bit of a surprise.
Decent appointment I think all things considered. Worse options out there.
A press conference and an announcement will be made later.
Seems an odd one, but good luck to them, they can't do any worse than we did.
Had some real problems when he was a young manager at Valencia. Lots of players getting in trouble with the club not turning up for training, going out when they werent supposed to etc. Didnt seem to respect him. Not sure if the same stuff has happened at his recent clubs
He's a better appointment than Arteta of course but I feel Arsenal have missed a trick with not going for Jardim.
Yes, I read what the BBC said but it hasn't been confirmed until Arsenal announce it. Stop trying to ruin this for me.
He probably fits well with their ambition level.
Winning the EL could be critical for any CL ambitions Arsenal have in the near future.
Its pretty all over the news now.

Emery (despite his flaws), like Klopp, Pep, Pochettino, Sarri, Tuchel, pay great attention to how his team builds from the back. There is a high degree of system and structure in their teams. Unlike our Mourinho.
In my opinion this is the biggest difference between the most succesfull coaches ten years ago and today. Mourinho belongs in the bracket with Capello and Benitez. The Sacchi school of thought. They value defenders with ability to play out from the back, but do not establish system to help them.
Ferguson was similar, but I’m sure he would have adjusted by adding the correct staff to his team. Like he always did.
You're right, he would not have been the name that we thought when Wenger left. But let's see how he does, the good thing is if he's doing shitte we can sack him and unlike with Wenger we won't be held to hostage.
Hey, I said STOP trying to ruin this for me.
He needs about 10 years if the 50m budget is to be believed.
Separate names with a comma.
