Red Caf's participation in promoting this would be much appreciated:

Hundreds of Reds have already done this. To play your part just click the following link, put your postcode in the box in the top right corner on this page and it'll create a message for your own MP.

The Government has this week received the response from the football authorities (the FA, Premier League and Football League) to the DCMS Select Committee's report on Football Governance (published in July), and the Government's subsequent response (published in October). As such, the coming days and weeks will be crucial in the ongoing drive to implement lasting reform to the way our game is governed.

Supporters Direct have, with the help of organisations like MUST, lobbied hard for their proposals for a far-reaching club licensing system to be adopted by those in charge of football. It is vital that the Government understands the support amongst football fans for such a system – regardless of what the authorities have offered in their response.

Proper reform and an effective club licensing system could lead to huge benefits for supporters and clubs:

[*]Debt based takeovers like the Glazers’ at United could be outlawed
[*]Abusive ownership prevented – the Glazers have now taken more than £500 million pounds out of Manchester United – read more in The Guardian
[*]Supporter ownership could be encouraged also with possible right to buy
[*]Rights of supporters to be consulted and informed could be enshrined

These and other major reforms would only be possible with a proper independent FA and a proper independent licensing system. It was reported yesterday in the Daily Telegraph and a similar article in The Guardian that the vested interests (clubs and leagues) are resisting change and so we need to make sure Government does not let them off the hook.

We only have a few days to make an impact at this crucial point - but we know that this really works

We know from feedback from MPs that previous lobbying has been incredibly effective through this SpeakOut mechanism.

You just have to put your postcode in the box in the top right corner on this page and it will find your MP and automatically create a message for you to send. Add your address (essential to prove that you are a genuine constituent), click send, and you're done.

Then just ask your friends and family to do the same.

I think my MP is too busy organising Nazi themed parties but I like the effort.

I actually think that football governance in this country does need a bit of a review so I have signed it

For anyone wondering, here is the latest list of those who have yet to receive any correspondance, note that it is vital that a real person contacts them.

If possible all mp's should revieve this, it's a football matter in general, so feel free to pass it on to anyone in these areas,

    Hurrah!

Obviously I don't condone using a bogus postcode, but whilst you are a genuine person and out of the country, then I think it's fair.

As united fans clearly we've a very real situation to be concerned with however this issue is bigger than that and something all football fans should be on board with

The game we all love should be handled with far greater care than it currently is

I totally agree that this issue goes beyond anything that is happening at United, it is about the future of the English game in general.

If we look at the German example, they have a lot of regulations in place to protect the game. I would probably argue that their rules are actually too restrictive, but on the other hand there is not enough scrutiny in England about who is taking ownership of our football clubs and we are now seeing the worst case scenario at a club like Portsmouth.

This can only change by lobbying the government to put pressure on the FA to change so things like these letters to MPs really can make a difference.

Done but I have sat round the table with my MP, the most self centred out of touch man I have met for a long time ( as were the 3 other MPs at the same meeting, in fact to my surprise the most out of touch comments came from a female labour MP, woman of the people, I don't think so, Attila the Hun was a far more respectful and understanding member of the female species )
